Trouble with TMPGEnc

Post by Altecha » Mon May 03, 2004 6:19 pm

Hi,
I'm new with mpeg encoding, and I have several AVI files that I want to encode in mpeg-2 format (NTSC, 720 x 480) for Otakon.
I used TMPGenc (as recommended by Otakon) to convert, but the final product's width seemed to be squished together (shorter than 720). I checked my settings, and all seems well. Am I missing something, or is there a better converter that I can use?

If you are playing back your MPEG-2 in a DVD player, or in WMP6.4 or WMP9 at full screen, it WILL play back as 4:3 if you encoded it correctly. There is nothing wrong with this. The resolution is still 720x480.

Thank you, that's nice to know.
I got scared when wmp9 showed it distorted like that. I'll check it out again, thank you.
