Which is worse? Non-anime or plaigerism.
¬_¬;; Mods, sorry about the double post... this was originally meant to go into this forum but I forgot what forum I was in while originally posting this... This is more of a discussion topic for the creators/fans more than an incident report.
---------------------------------
A while back someone uploaded a bunch of videos claiming them to be their own.
http://animemusicvideos.org/members/mem ... _id=140223
A thread about this was made and it was found that other members were ripped off aslo including Chaos Angel.
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... highlight=
All of the videos in the profile are still locally available.
Caliet brought up this video before:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... d_id=25727
As it is a blatent ripoff of her video:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... id_id=9026
In fact this thread is the only time I've seen a plaigerism complaint end up being taken off local.
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... 869#451869
I'm just curious as to whether or not these videos will be dealt with? IMHO these are worse than somebody uploading something with non-anime sources, which usually seem to be dealt with. They both take up bandwidth and space on the server that could be used for legitimate videos however video plaigerism is just rude...

With events like this, one must wonder how the mods could have missed it in the past. I mean, I distinctly remember this thread:
http://animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewt ... p?p=452401
At this point, it's been established that the guy doesn't do 'his' videos. At the very least, deletion is in order. Frankly, I think the entries should be deleted, because they're just stolen vids.

I found one the other day, and for the life of me can't remember what it was... I do remember that Aoshi person trying to pimp his vid in the a-m-v.org chatroom, then got flamed by those who have seen Chaos ANgel's video. He claimed it was his own, yet further researc revealed that all his vids were plagerised (go Corran!). I don't see any point in trying to plagerise videos. All it's gonna do is get you in deep shit by certain people.
Posted in a topic in another section of the forum, someone pointed out if the Music and Anime rules, the ones about no duplicate songs and animes used (for isntance: Two videos that use DBZ and any given song by Linkin Park). If those were enforced, there would definately be no plagerism, but at the same time, the video catalog gets shot to hell. Personally, I think that's one of those floating rules that might need second look.
Also, I think that the parties responsible should be either:
a)banned form the ORG (both account and IP),
b) have the videos removed and account deleted,
c) remove the videos and give them a warning stating if they do it again, it's perma-ban (both account and IP), or
d) Leave it to Phade.
This is just me though...

Well, the thing is that this takes personal review. There's just no automated way to do it.BrsrkEva wrote:Personally, I think that's one of those floating rules that might need second look.
Maybe a little harsh, but certainly justified.BrsrkEva wrote:Also, I think that the parties responsible should be either:

That doesn't stop him from doing it again, but at the least the vids should be deleted.BrsrkEva wrote:b) have the videos removed and account deleted,
This makes a lot of sense, but here the guy's a quadruple offender. He knows what he's doing, and he knows he's been found out.BrsrkEva wrote:c) remove the videos and give them a warning stating if they do it again, it's perma-ban (both account and IP), or
We could do that, but I'm of the opinion that something of this sort should at least go up for public consideration. After all, it affects the whole community.BrsrkEva wrote:d) Leave it to Phade.
And that's just my $.02.BrsrkEva wrote:This is just me though...
And yes, I realize you're saying we should just let Phade deal with this.

I agree with you, this should go public. Some people will react different ways, but the majority always rules, and there will be some very good points.

I looked at the post and some of the vids and that is just plain sick, so much hard work exploited (well attempted to anyway...) by one lazy person.
The pain and such that goes into creating just....
I cannot form coherent sentences anymore. It is just wrong and that is that, ban the "member" and make what he did public.

Yes, this is Phade's personal site afterall. However, when members complain about how some others abuse a service that they help fund I believe some response/action from the moderators is in order.Kalium wrote:Only in a democracy. This was another vid that was blatenly ripped off (they even left the bumpers of the person they took it from on the vid) and pointed out and nothing was ever done (to my knowledge at least) since the video is still up via direct on the org.
AMV Annoucement with vid link
Vid that was ripped off
I know we've all heard the arguement that what we do is basiclly the same thing..taking the footage and the song...yadda yadda yadda...
But you'd like to think that a person would have enough respect for themselves and for others to not take someone else's work and blatently(sp?) try to pass it off for their own. It's just sad.
And I agree with BrsrkEva...but I think it should be option C)remove the videos and give them a warning stating if they do it again, it's perma-ban (both account and IP) that's used the most. It's one thing for someone to put a vid up..and not knowing it might already be up on the org..and not knowing about proxy..mistakenly post it as their own (though if they used the help and search options this wouldn't happen..but we all know how that goes) which to me would only deserve a warning..but to do like some of the examples here have shown and claim someone elses vid as your own...and continue to do so in the one case..well...then obviously all they're wanting to do is be ignorant and to cause a ruckus.
