Video Speed

Post by mj31588 » Sat Mar 27, 2004 7:19 pm

I have this problem, when I watch some of my AMV's and the sound comes to an end pictures are still playing for like 15 seconds, and it's only from this one user, all the rest are fine. It's really REALLY annoying, can someone help me fix this?

The audio format is MPEG Layer-3 and the video compression is XVID. I hope that helps cuz I'm computer illeterate(Hah funny, misspelling this certain word) sometimes :O

Hmm, weird. It might be some sort of problem with VBR audio. Which videos in particular do you have the problem with, and what program are you playing them in?

I've tried Real Player and Windows Media Player. One of the videos I've had for a while and it never played up to speed, until once I opened the file up instead of opening the file while the player was already opened and it worked. But for the last few days even if I do that it won't play up to speed anymore, and I just downloaded this other one today and it's the same way. They're both from the same user, Sierra Liona or something, her website is Premonition Studios.

What are the specs on your PC? Maybe your CPU isn't able to handle Divx encodes without lagging and going out of synch.

My PC is relatively new and has only messed up on 2 AMV's out of many, so I don't think it's my computer.

Hmmm.
Ok, time for some troubleshooting.
First, try this player called Medic Player Classic. It's a really awesome player, so you should use it anyways :p Download it here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... _id=225842

I assume you are on Windows XP, correct?
Start playing the video in MPC, then press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the task manager. Click the processes tab, and at the bottom you should see where it says "Cpu usage". If the cpu usage is at 100%, then thats the problem.
If thats not the case, then in MPC, click the "view" menu, then select statistics. Play the video through and note the various numbers. The ones you want to pay attention to are the Sync Offset, Frames Dropped, and Jitter.

Ok, I d/led the file, and did al+crtl+delete and it said 100%. When I stopped the file it averaged around 20% which is so weird, one AMV doesn't take up 80%. I tried some other AMV's and they rarely made it go up to 30% so it has something to do with that one video.

Oh, and I checked the Sync numbers, one video had them at 0 but the one not up to speed at one at 200ish and one at 700ish. The jitter ones were about the same.
