tips on premiere
i have premiere and i have a real copy instead of a downloaded one but when i go to put in clips, it has a tendency to freeze up on me. im not running any big programs, im not doing anything else usually, maybe listening to a playlist on winamp but beyond that, ive got nothing large running, despite repeated checking of something that i dont recognize. so why does it crash all the time, i open a clip, close, i do.... nearly anything and it closes on me. i have a history of having electronics die on me, even with the best of treatment, some theorize too much negative energy, it seems true, but thats not the point. why does it constantly die. heh, i suppose i should have just stuck to my question.

Xvid or divX clips, or also clips containing mp3 audio tend to make Premiere crash.
Do you know which codec is used in your clips ?
You should try to recompress your clips with another codec.
Did you read A&E's guide ? It contains lots and lots of info and you should read it, it helps a lot

Whoa. Whatever you do, DON'T recompress your DivX/XviD footage. Even though it probably already looks like crap on a stick festering in the hot sun, you shouldn't make it look worse.
To use clips in Premiere that normally crash it, you want to convert that clip to HuffyUV by using EO Video.
