Alrighty, I'm trying to import an AVI file into VirtualDub and/or Premiere Pro, and I'm getting an error saying it can't find the right decompressor for the file and that it needs a Video for Windows codec for the MP42 Format to decompress it.
Any help would be appriciated.

Translation: "I want to import a DivX/XviD file"
Baaaaaaaad idea. Ignoring the fact that using fansubs isn't cool, Premiere has a hard time dealing with DivX/XviD files.
Find the Gordian Knot Plugin Pack (doom9.org), and install. That should help you load up the video into VDub. From there, you want to convert to a format more suitable for editing, like huffYUV (you can just save clips to save yourself space, as HuffYUV is pretty damned large).
But stay away from editing with DivX and XviD. It will only end in tears.*

*5 points to whoever can name the movie reference!

Alright, well in my defense, the anime hasn't been released in America yet, and I'm getting rid of the subtitles. It's high quality stuff. But I realize DVD is the best, which is why I'm trying to get it. It just isn't out yet.
But thanks for the info, I'll be sure to check it out.
