There's also the matter of learning discrete mathematics, linear algebra, computer architecture, fast graphics algorithms (which tie into the first two), file handling, fast file handling operations, digital and analog video standards, good object-oriented design, assembler language, software engineering, colormodels (both of which tie into the first three), differential equations...many other things.

knowing C++ != knowing how to write an NLE

I'm sure you meant it as a joke, but a scary amount of the population actually thinks that way, so I'm just doing my job to clean up.
