Does anyone have experience trying to combine live action and anime together? If so, got any tips you could give me? I'm trying to lay a cutout anime character over live action and can't get it to look right, the edges of the anime character are too sharp and the animes colors are too perfectly uniform. So far I've tried blurring the anime, sharpening the live action, feathering the edges of my PSD files, adding a small bit of noise so the anime doesn't look so perfect, and cursing (repeatedly).
So you know what I'm after, imagine Who Framed Roger Rabbit except the live action is usually more motion blurred than that movie.

I haven't done it (and I'm not an animator), but here is an idea FWIW.
You will probably have to play with how the anime character is lit. Most anime characters I can think of are fully lit most of the time, whereas that will almost never be the case with live action.
If you attack the lighting problem somehow it might start to look better.
