Premiere has gone apeshit on me.

Post by Jebadia » Mon Jan 26, 2004 2:12 am

Okay, normally I don't get buggered of premiere crashing on me, but recently it has gotten so bad that editing my current video is even fun anymore, and the whole thing is just simple cuts and edits.

I'm editing 29.97fps footage interlaced btw no prefiltered work applied. I have only 3 avs files and 1 audio file (wav) in the project, each avs contains 2 episodes (1 hour of footage) each.

Premiere has been raging on me with crash after crash. I'm lucky if I can get 2 simple cuts before i'm slammed with an illegal error message and am forced to restart my computer.

In just 30 minutes premiere crashed on me about 9 times. I had better luck editing divx footage than this.

Should I just reinstall premiere or what?

Swiitch to Sony Vegas 4 ^_^

Seriously. I made the switch a few days ago, and so far I'm loving it. I don't know how to do a lot of the stuff I used to do in premiere yet, but I have basic editing functions down now. And the thing is rock solid. Of course its probly not a good idea to switch right in thew middle of a project >.>

Reinstalling is probably a good idea. Since you have your project files, you shouldnt lose any work.

hahaha, yeah same with me. i duno, i just felt so refreshed when i used vegas fof the first time after premier. the documentation is exelent and with the way its designed the actual proces of making amv's is faster. also, the interface is fantastic. ok so encoding is kinda slow but how much time did premier waest when it desided to crash (and thats just time, lets not forget frustration and having to save after every timy little edit because your scared if it crashing)

I don't know what you guys are doing with premire. I have yet to have it crash on me yet. I'm using 6.0 and i do crazy stuff with avs and lately a whole lot of effects. My system might be more stable since i only use the computer only for editing. In my experience as a network admin and a normal user is that the less programs you have on your computer the better. Normally it only takes 1 bad program to cause all sorts of errors to occur and make you system unstable due to crappy written code and the company not doing enought testing before release.

Can Vegas accept avs files for editing?

You can if you use the makeAVIS tool on them. It should be included with your avisynth installation, if not, you can download it here: http://cultact-server.novi.dk/kpo/avisy ... 031113.exe

Note that your avs files can't contain any relative paths, or the utility will die.

Where can I get Vegas at?

However, I'm with mckeed, I haven't seemed to have any problems with Premiere yet, and I'm running it on a laptop at that.
