"Van Helsing" = "Hellsing"?

Hey,

I haven't seen any of Hellsing yet, but I ran across this:

Is this based on / rip-off from the anime Hellsing in any way? Just curious.

It's based on the legend of vampire hunter Van Helsing, as seen in many, many places, as is the anime.

From wat i have seen of Hellsing the anime series, it seems that this movie is not at all related to the anime series. I guess its just a coincidence that the guys last name was Helsing. But im not a hundred percent sure though.

Yup, I work in a movie theater and have seen the trailer and information sheets many times.

Van Helsing was the man that killed Dracula in the original story "Dracula". In Hellsing the anime, the Hellsing family are suppose to be decedants of Van Helsing. Thats about the only connection between the two. Im actually looking foward to this movie. Hugh Jackman looks pretty bad ass in his outfit.
