MetroCon. Need help on choosing a cos play character to be.

Post by keyboardsamurai » Fri Jan 09, 2004 12:16 pm

I'm thinking of going to Metrocon in Tampa and if I do I want to dress up for cosplay. I need some idea's for a martial artists character. I have a wooden bokken and/or staff/bo (perfer to use staff/bo). I am thinking about Rolento from Street Fighter since he is the only char I can think of atm, that uses a staff. On the Metrocon cosplay walk i'll be performing a timed to music kata/form (I am damn good *take my word for it). Or someone who uses a sword/bokken *wooden sword for practice (i'm decent with a sword). The only problem with Rolento, is I don't think a lot of people know who he is.

Also if someone needs an extra character for their cosplay skit with a weapon i'll be glad to help. Below is a list of weapons I can perform in.

Open Hands (can't do kicks)
Staff/Bo (really good) or spear.
Sword/bokken (enough to please the crowd)
Nunchaku's (should be enough to stasify the crowd)
Tonfa's/Night stick with handle (not too good)

Kenshin would be hard and more embarrasing since his outfit looks (A BIT) like a dress. As well the hair would be way to hard to duplicate. The sword and sandles would be easy.

Kenshin character costume is too much for me personally. Even though he is an awesome character. To bad Sanosuke (sp?) doesn't have a staff (don't feal like carving a life size replica of his sword). Would it still look like Ryu if he is carring a staff? His costume would be the easiest to make.

Megacon would kick ass, but I don't think I could take a 3hour drive atm, Tampa is easier and closer.

You could go as Ranma or Ryoga... You could get an umbrella and a backpack and a headband, and bam, you're Ryoga.
