Petition to ban Anime

Post by TheDarknessFlame » Mon Dec 15, 2003 10:10 pm

I'm not sure if they will be able to stop anime if they get enough people to sign the petition but I thought it would be best to show you guys anyway.
Here is the Petiton to stop Anime

I think this is ridiculus and you can see how I responded.

If your going to make a petition you should at least be smart about it. Here are some of your flaws in your ridiculus petition: Quote "...which causes children under the age of 18 to think they are capable of love..." Oh and we cant have that its just horrible! I bet our ENTIRE Nation will fall because of this. Quote "That poor girl must be so confused" Not a confused girl! GOD we've never seen that before. Honestly its a cartoon for Christs sake, guess what its FICTION. That means it not real, so don't go crying yourself to sleep over it. Besides if you hate Anime so bad why do you even care? And for this next thing you should be ashamed of yourself. Quote "...from the dark land of Japan..." Hmmmm lets see the dark land of Japan. Well are you aware that Japan is sending troops to Iraq to help America? Saying things like the dark land of Japan is heavely racial and if anyone should be arrested or fined it should be you. How dare you say something like that in a Country as cultural diverse as America.
"Not my responsibility. You should have learned by now this is a kill or be killed world. If you're too weak to help yourself, you deserve to fall."

1) Ah My Goddess: A sick and disgusting show which causes children under the age of 18 to think they are capable of love. The main female character is clearly under 18, and is forced into a romantic relationship by an older man who "wishes" for her to be his girlfriend forever. He even KISSES her, and she appears NAKED. That poor girl must be so confused.
 Isn't Belldandy actually a few hundred years old.
2) Love Hina: I'm not even going to mention the unspeakable, disgusting, pedophilic, pornograhpic events which transpire during this show, but suffice it to say, groups of young men on Love Hina-fueled rampages are raping children at a level unheard of since the 60s.
More like getting beat up for saying hi to said girls.
If you are a parent or a decent human being, I urge you to sign this petition to ban all forms of anime in the United States. Anyone who is found in possesion of anime should be arrested and jailed for an exhorbant period of time. Anime is a dark scourge upon our beautiful nation, and we don't need this Japanese filth corrupting the hearts of the children.
I am so hoping this is a joke or something, because this person is just so damn ignorant, they clearly didn't even view said series for more than 2 minutes.

Well I doubt that's going to go far. Online petitions are not a good way to go about anything. They're hardly professional enough to do some real changing.

And I wouldn't take anyone with the username "cutiepie" too seriously anyway. :?

That "person" just talked about TWO series of the same genre. That's like a very small percentage of the entire population. But yea, that "petition" won't get too far. Heck, it's hardly persuasive. :?

To: U.S. President
Dear United States President and Fellow anime fans,
I was starting the day as normal, drawing on an online oekaki ((A Japenese drawing program)), while searching on Barnes and Noble for my favorite mangas, when I found this. http://www.petitiononline.com/cutiepie/petition.html UGH. How can they even think of banning anime!
I didn't start my day that way. :?
The person here obviously saw two older-targeted animes and didn't like it. Yet, for every bad anime, there's alot of better ones! After all, what about that Pokemon fad all of America wne through. Everyone in America loved that anime, and some of us still do! Not all anime is bad news.
woot! Spellign errors.
And this person is so closed-minded to think Japan is a dark place! My aunt, uncle, and cousin are currently living in Japan, and its lovely there. Sure, their customs may be different, and some of us may not agree with it, but who are we to put it down? Anime and Manga is a beautiful comic art Japan has been gifted with, and it has influenced amny countries in the same way. I'll be damned if some Anti-Japan freak wants to take it away from us, go ahead and try!
My aunt, uncle, and cousin are "not" living in Japan.
Doesn't the Constitution of America clearly state freedom of practicing your own ways, freedom of speech? It doesn't seem that way if you have over a thousand people signing against a culture, just because its different!
lol
Fellow anime lovers, I am fourteen, and I have loved anime since I first saw Pokemon, and many young people love it and Hamtaro, we cant just take that away. I agree, some anime is not meant for young children, but there is always a clear warning that says 'This is not appropriate fir those under age *Insert age here*'.
I am not fourteen. :?
I urge you to sign this, so that when you pass by the bookshop, you can still smile at seeing your favorite anime or manga volume in the window.
lol
Sincerely,

The Undersigned

I think it'd take more than that one petition to seriously affect anything. And, hey, if porn hasn't been banned, then they can't ban anime.

Seriously, though, people like that make me ashamed to call myself a Christian... :?

That is old news. Still, it is pretty zany and moronic.

I remember that there is a petiton out there, probably on that same site, asking for more anime for the 14 episode series Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure. That is the show that really got me into anime, so it is nostalgia to me. So, of course I signed it. That Dual! petition is more likly to do something than that anti-anime crap :!:
