Compression help
Hey,
I'v made a few vids so far and i'v noticed I have a real problem....compression. The Quality of my videos when I first export is as good as DVD but the file size is about 1-2 gigs which is way to huge to do aything with. I can convert it in this lil easy as hell to use converter and that really cuts the file size down but then the video quality sucks. I heard somthin bout compressin in nandub or somthin. I would really appreciate any and all advice or thoughts on this subject.
Thx

I've never worked with Nandub, but I get very good results with the software mentioned above.

If your file is in avi (huffyuv?) format, you can use VirtualDub to compress that file. The avisynth explanation is for when you rip your dvds - getting the best quality for the clips will end with the best quality for the final video. But if you already have the high quality file, in avi format, you can compress it just by taking it into Vdub and compressing to xvid. You might also try TMPGEnc (which is mentioned in the guides as well) - you just choose your large avi file, the wave (your song), and combine/compress - play with the settings for the best output.XspitfireDemonX wrote:Thx for the help and I got all the programs you suggested, and read the help but I still have no idea how to use them
[Mainly read the sections for compressing your video - that should tell how to use Vdub and TMPGEnc if you already have a large high quality avi version of the video.]

But you can also use AVISynth to do resizing and filtering on your lossless export and feed the result to VirtualDub for compression. I know TMPGEnc does a fairly good job of resizing on its own, but I don't know about VDub (partially because, excepting the filter that shrinks the dimensions by 2:1, I've never tried it).Arigatomyna wrote:If your file is in avi (huffyuv?) format, you can use VirtualDub to compress that file. Ok I have the compression method down, But do I compress the video when it's complete or the footage or the final video? Cause when I export the final vid from adobe pro, Vdub or Nandub won't exept it. It says that it couldn't locate decompresser for format "dvsd" and that it requires Video For Windows compatible codec?
Thx for the help ^_^

Well, I read up on everything that had to do with compression audio and video. It's not that I don't know what compression is or how to use the programs. I guess it boils down to how do I convert DV into somthing readable by Vdub or Nandub? Cause I think I now now the complete history, future, how it works, and what it is by reading the guides. Fun though. I got a converter once and the quality went to hell when I converted it.
