I was also surprised when, despite the excellent premise, the series was uncaptivating and hollow

Saw a few episodes on TechTV. The characters were pretty bland. Heck, the main character Mika doesn't even deserve to be bitch-slapped since she's not interesting. Man, TechTV really has to get more DECENT series (the only series that were pretty good moves were Lain, Duel!, Boogiepop Phantom, and probably Gatekeepers 21).

Lain didn't really do it for me...

I saw a couple of Geneshafts but not enough to get into it. What I did see looked sort of alright to me.

Gene... SHAFT... i couldnt help but laugh when they handed me the bag with that GENESHAFT written in big blue letters on a bag at AX03.....
