Region 2 Ripping

Post by Kaji01 » Tue Oct 21, 2003 11:46 am

I'm not going to be doing it for a little while yet, but it's something I'm considering for an upcoming project...

I've got the Nadesico movie (Prince of Darkness) on Region 2 DVD, and I was thinking about using it for a project involving Nadesico, but there is a small problem posed by the fact that while my DVD player may be region free, my laptop is not. I can change the region on the drive 3 more times before it locks regions, so I'd really prefer to not do that if possible, I was wondering if anyone possibly knew of a way to wipe out the region on the drive or else knew of a decoding tool to get around any encryption on an R2 DVD, as I can't use the player to circumvent it...

Thanks!

I've never tried it, but I think DVD Region-Free can circumvent the region code. You could also try flashing to a hacked firmware, but that's at your own risk.

Hmm... I've been able to rip from my R2 DVDs without problems with my R1 player. Just try normally: it should work.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

My old, somewhere around 2x DVD-ROM will do it without even blinking, but the newer one in my laptop bitches about the region code. I think it's highly dependent upon the drive you're trying to use to do the ripping with...
