Yaoicon 2003 Results?

Post by Fungie½ » Sun Oct 19, 2003 6:13 pm

Does anyone know the results of the Yaoicon 2003 AMV contest? I didn't enter but I have friends that did so it'd be nice to know.

Ok, being the foreman of the contest I'll take care of posting these now that the contest is well over and the awards have been given out.

Not of apology to Sarah the Boring. Due to late crisis with the online entires I had to have them converted to an emergancy DVD that had to be overnight shipped to me so we could run the contest. In the transfter to DVD it was discovered that your video does nto transfer to audio codec and it was inaudible when played so unforutnately your video was not shown for that reason. Feel free to enter it next year (I have some notes of things I'm fixing for next year to improve the contest)

Judges awards

Best Video Matching Theme (All's fair in love and yaoi): Descent by Leslie Armagost - to Yami no Matsuei

Best Technical video: Comfort through Weiss by Teri Archbald - to Wiess Gluhen

Shock Value Award: The Full Raiden by Cristin McCusker to Raiden

Best Storytelling: You are my Fate by Gretchen Martinez to the series X

Most Creative: No Need to Feel Down by Three Lonely Kaiju to Various

Most Artistic: Ok I apologize, due to the problems with the otakuvideo server which whent down before the con, I couldn't get the video infor for everyone off the site and since this video was submitted in its digital format without a trailer, bumper or info in it's title I do not know the creator's name but it was the ONLY video to Ai no Kusabi.

Fan Awards:

Dramatic: Once again, the Ai no Kusabi video

Romance: Once again, You are my Fate

Action: Eden's Angels by SQ to the series Earthian

Comedy and Fan Favorite: No need to feel down by Three Lonely Kaiju.

As far as I'm concerned I think the contest whent well overall despite the HUGE problem we hgad with the online entires and getting them running (thankfully averted before the contest actually started, there's a long story behind that). And the only other problem was that I seriously missnumbered the ballots which I will make sure ot avert next year.

Special note to Dilandau Albatou: Your video to the sims...thanks to you I had the most emberassing experience at th airport (where I had to judge the online entires before I arrived in SF) as I was watching your video to the Sims I found a five year old girl peeking over my shoulder who wanted to know what I was watching O_O Needless to say, I closed the laptop that very instant.

Oh, thank god. I was having guilt about getting into a con because of dishonest reasons. :?

Whew. No, I won't send it again, but thanks for the offer.

Congrats to all the entrants. 8)

How come I win something everytime I submit an AMV to a con I DON'T go to?! (And it was another trailer, too! GAH!)

Wired Knight, I'm sorry. I had NO IDEA that my trailer was interlaced until it was too late. Damn my lack of attention. So yeah, my trailer probably looked horrible on the big screen [unless you fixed it] but I'm still glad people liked it. =p

Wiccat, I have no idea of all the entries entered, but I can give you the two of my videos that I entered.

Eden's Angels
Jealousy
They both use Earthian, as that's the only Yaoi I have right now. =\
I like Jealousy better, since Eden's Angels was more of a "Hey, this is funny, I might as well do it since Yaoicon needs more entries anyway" kind of thing.

And yeah, thanks for the award. ^^;;;

Well I am more likely than not going next year since my Girlfriend loves to go (seeing as she increases her doujinshi count every year).

As for the list of entered videos. I just got back from my flight into TN again so I'll get to work on the list of videos tommorow.

Rest assured, I'm heavily working on improving the AMV contest for next year's yaoi con in a number of areas to make it better. For one, I'll putting in for the main events room next time, we were allready violating fire codes when we were turning people away from the room.

According to Quu, there were two or three entires on the Otakuvideoserver that were never uploaded so they never were submitted. When I recieved my copy of all the digital entries there was only one entry in there submitted by you and I checked every file in there thourghouly. I apologize that it was not entered for whatever reason that may be but I assure you that I did not overlook it.

Aw, man! Awesome. My one goal in AMVing was to win something at Yaoicon. After last year's failure, I wasn't expecting to do well this year either. Wow. Thanks!
