adobe premiere 5.1 [compatible with XP?]

Post by jflandy » Tue Sep 30, 2003 9:19 pm

Does anyone know if I can use Adobe Premiere 5.1 on the windows XP platform (just to make sure, I had to ask - you understand)
And more importantly, Has anyone used it for making AMVs and how is it?

Yes. I'm running Adobe Premiere 5.1c on Windows XP Home right now, and so far I've made two videos with it, both of which people seem to like. As I've never used any other video editor (except Windows Movie Maker), all I can say is that it usually does what I need it to, and it also does a bunch of cool things that I don't need but I'm glad I can use. I only wish it wasn't prone to crashing.

My father recently got Adobe's video package that includes Premiere Pro, After Effects 6, Audition (formerly Cool Edit Pro), and their DVD authoring software... I won't get to try out the new toys until I go home over winter break. Then I'll have some basis for comparison.

And I don't think this is in the right board... probably belongs under Video Software. But I believe that it's standard practice for the admins to automatically move topics like this so that you don't have to make a whole new one.

Thanks for the input...
Being a newbie to the forums, I kinda rushed into it without looking (duh on my part).

OMG!

Other people are cheap and use outdated software like me :)

Seriously though it does everything I want it to do and the guides pretty much tell you how to make a video using premiere regardless of which version. I've made two videos as well and they turned out fine.
There are a couple of things that you can't do on it or things that you have to do a slightly different way to updated version but all in all it runs pretty fine.

I just switched over to AiST's Extreme 4.0 and this is reall fun to work with ^^

It was on E-bay for about $25°° and $15°° shipping but `you should see what THIS can do - drooooooools

In about 20 minutes, everyone in our group will be putting it to the test for this program "is designed" for working on LAN's - Plus we don't need to convert anything to RAW's anymore ( unless its Xvid T_T ) which means that the Audio can stay MP3 and the Video files can remain small while in Divx 5.0.5 ^_____^

I've been testing it all day long and we should be releasing an AMV within the next two weeks - if not sooner.

- YEY . there here, catch ya laters ^^
this should be fun :D
