Has anyone else received this Email?

Post by Simpi » Sun Sep 28, 2003 2:32 pm

Hello.

I recently got a suspicious looking email with 'no subject'. Turns out that it was by Hazama Ishimaru (pure_soldier_hazama@yahoo.com) and it has been sent to dozens of people.

The message goes like this: Hello I am writing to you regarding your Macross, Macross Plus, etc, music video you created. I have admired everyone's talent and skill in this area and hope you will allow me to share this with others.

By December of this year (2003, so there is no confusion) I am hoping to create an online database of Macross music videos because there is a lack of available music videos on the internet.

This site will not just cater to the people with large bandwidths, as many fans still run on 56 k modems, with this site up and running I would like to be able to distribute (free of charge) a burned CD with a selection a music videos for anyone who requests it, unfortunately since this will be a free service, this form of offline distribution will rely mostly on donations, most likely from the requestee(?)(is requestee an actual word?)

I hope that you will contribute to this site by giving me permission to display your video(s) on my site, and perhaps provide a copy of the video (preferably high res). I will be willing to trade for it, if you have any questions or comments reply or IM me on yahoo (pure_soldier_hazama), the messenger is almost always running (at home or at work). Your contribution would be greatly appreciated and I thank you for reading this email.

P.S. I was wondering if anyone has a music video of Final Fantasy X done to Creed's My Sacrifice, the creator might have be someone called "Angelous" or something, if you have it, please write me back as I have been unable to find it since I lost my old HD.

I mean, distributing by CDs, permissions to display them, not available, etc. We already have a-m-v.org, don't we? I don't think he has good intentions in mind since he would charge money for videos, which are not exactly legal to begin with.

His ID here is: Pure_Soldier_Hazama

I think some people have at the cost of the media used >_> Not very different than having the "consumer" buy a blank disc first and give it to you to burn, except you buy the blank disc for them and they reimburse you :\

And yeah, Simpi, that's odd. Maybe the person registered before the Golden Doughnut and hasn't seen/heard of it yet? Try contacting him and telling him about the doughnut.

I got that email, and I told him go for it, since I really could give a flip. I posted my vids in public domain to anybody who wants to download them, so it's not like somebody couldn't do it without asking me anyway. I don't scour the net looking to see if my amatuer vids are on display someplace else.

From what I gathered, it's a Macross AMV exclusive site he's interested in creating (maybe he doesn't like using the org's search engine), and he just wants money to cover the cost of a CD-R for people without broadband. Is that legit? Probably not. If he's doing it to try and make money, I say good luck, cuz I can't see that being a very lucrative venture.
