Your favorite guitar picks
Mine are the orange dunlop .6 mm tortex picks that are in the "fender" style. I have one of those picks that i've been using exsclusivly for about a year. if i could get my scanner to work i'd post a picture of it ... it's so worn out ....

the ones i use are on the top of the list.
Now whats your favorite guitar pick?

I like my picks small and very hard. My pick of choice is the Jim Dunlop Jazz III. They're small, but very effective for speed picking and getting some screamin' harmonics.

was it this turtle?Jace Tsunami wrote:there was this one A Static Lullaby gave me, but I can't find it....
It was orange, had a turtle on it, pretty stiff and firm end where you hold it, but it softened down when you got to the tip.

personaly i like medium picks ... i've tried using heavy picks on my electric, but i have problems struming smootly with them, si i stick to lighter ones.

cool, i like tortex's too ... if you played with orange ones then they're the .6 mm ones ... which are the same ones i use. Just the one pick i've been using is too worn out to actualy tell what it was. Considerably shorter then a fresh ocik and it has sharp edges on it from hitting the strings on whatever weird angle i play at ... also lots of weird marks from scratching the strings.

I have a variety and have trouble picking favorites, since I always switch around and find advantages.
Generally, I prefer medium picks with a fairly pointy end. Overall, the one I really like is a .71 Dean Markley pick (which is getting worn out), which is just flexible enough for my taste. For lead playing, one of those really small (the only pick I occasionally drop) Gibson picks, medium thickness, black. For rhythm, particularly when I want a heave power chord riff - a Fender Heavy pick suffices.

It all depends on what you do with them.
Besides, I'm an LP whore that's desperate for as many different sounds as possible while maintaining that distinctive tone of the guitar... since picks are a good way to quickly make a subtle adjustment to your sound, I always go for variety...
One I'd like to try is a triangle. Sadly, last time I visited the store, they only had metal triangles, which are not a good match with .9 strings (and a somewhat twitchy/occasionally aggressive player). My suspicion is that I'd really like the triangle.
