What is the optimum playback configuration for FFDSHOW?

I have a pretty show computer (still runnning on a Pentium II

) but it plays back video files pretty smoothly if I configure FFDSHOW just right. The problem is, I just upgraded FFDSHOW and lost my configurations (which I copied from some website a while back) and now the playback is very choppy.

Does anyone know how to optimize a computer with FFDSHOW? Or is it one of those things that varies for each computer?

I remember fiddling with the controls under Postprocessing...

My version: ffdshow-20030523.exe (the newest version of FFDshow alpha)

Disable postprocessing...

Strange as it may seem, my files DID play better when I had Postprocessing enabled. I just can't remember what I changed in that panel...

Enabling Post-Processing can never make your files play back smoother. Post processing processes each frame to clean it up slightly, making it look better. This processing of course increases the ammount of cpu time needed to process each frame. Theres no way that enabling it could make it play faster unless hell were to freeze over :p

hehe... not that enabling post processing will make playback smoother (because it won't), but:
