You know you buy too much anime when ...

Post by Propyro » Wed Sep 03, 2003 9:16 pm

you know you buy too much anime (or anime stuff) when ...

You never have more then $50 in your bank account. (thankfully thats not me ... yet)

Your room and book shelves are full of "action figures", not toys or dolls.

You have to go shopping for extra shelf space within a few weeks of buying a new shelf. (not yet, almost)

You can remove those DVD security seals in one peice in less then 10 seconds. (like me)

you can't remember what the basic cable channels are any more (also like me).

you don't know who [insert random, huge, celeberty] is.

you spend more time organizing your DVD's then watching them. (ack, god is that ever me ...)

you start adding -kun and -chan to the ends of your friends names.

you talk to yourself in japanese when you only know a few words.

the wall paper in your room is made of anime posters.

yea ... add more

you keep your DVDs and semi- valuble(and even worthless)s in an air tight glass display case (ooo lucky me my mom used to run a jewelery shop)

You Keep your Anime Expo masqerade ticket, put it in a plastic sleeves, and frame it for the "Memories" and to remember how poor you were when you got home from the last day of a major con.

At Otakon when your friend asks you
" hey you wanna go get something to eat"
you reply:
"hell no! thats like 5$, i could get stuck on the last day being 5$ short of a DVD/Figure/Poster/etc... , you crazy bastard, sheesh what were YOU thinking, who needs to eat anyway..... *listens to sounds of growling stomache* "
RoXxoRs13: Is masturbation a sin?
Yomomma: I think so.....
RoXxoRs13: Then i'm going to hell, straight to hell
Yomomma: At least you won't be alone ^_^

<sigh> ... the story of my life ... "hmm, it's 7 and i haven't eaten all day and i'm starting to get pretty bad hunger pangs ... maybe i should eat something here ... OHH! comic world!!1!"

/me walks out with a dvd or two ...

<grumbeling stomach noise>

"oh fuckle ... i forgot about that..."

ye ai can picture it when i get my own place ... i'll prpbaby live off Mr.Noodel or some other cup soup, rice and Centrum ...

oh ... you watch too much anime if you make graphs and math formulas to determine the most effecient way to store your dvd's.

Not cool. I spent every damn cent I had at Otakon, and have spent the last month since then stealing food from relatives and living on ramen and popcorn, because I had juuuuust enough money for rent in the one paycheck I've gotten since then.

That's too hardcore for my taste, thanks.

But I bought things I really liked, so I don't regret anything I bought. I don't mind spending a lot on this stuff as long as:

1) All my normal living expenses are covered - this is always first. Always. This is the difference between being a fan and just being stupid and not planning right. I fucked up at Otakon, and I won't do it again.
2) I watch and like everything I buy and don't just buy junk at random. That's just wasteful.

So. Yeah. Spending too much is seriously not cool if it actually happens. And I know most of you don't have anything to worry about since you live at home, but don't set up a habit that you can't break later on when you really DO have financial responsibilities. :?

1.You have sex with stuffed dolls of anime females.

2.You destroy freindships that have lasted 17 years picking anime over your freind.

3.You get in a shouting match at Suncoast about which is better Slayers or cowboy beebop.

4.You hit pause on the remote to catch anime girls in certain poses.

5.You were not a pedophile before but for some you like the younger girls in anime.

6.If you ever produce offspring they will have anime names.

7.your a fat 29 year old walking in public with a picture of Akari on your tshirt

Save yourself from this fate. Just say no.

Fansubs don't cost money, or if they do then the subbers need a swift kick to the head. :P

I'm a great believer in renting if you want to try things that are already licensed. :) It's "This is anime so I'll buy it" that annoys me.

You know you buy too much anime when you realize that, without thinking about it, you are budgeting for anime first and rent second.

Yes, I have done this. Thankfully, I caught myself.
