FOR THE LOVE OF MERCY, SOMEBODY HELP ME!
Every step of the way, my AMV making efforts are plagued with every difficulty imaginable. I've just found out that I will need to recut virtually every shot in my entire SaiKano AMV into a different format and my brain is beginning to howl and gibber.
However, at least I know what to do about that. The current major problem is my total inability to rip DVDs to a decent standard. I've finally been able to rid the Vandread DVDs I have to the right size, but the video quality is pretty terrible, with objects breaking up into a mass of blurry lines around the edges whenever they move. My partner and I have tried everything within our power to get around it- working directly from the .avs files, deinterlacing, trying different sizes, but we just can't sharpen the image. Has anyone else ever encountered this problem? Can someone PLEASE help me before I snap?
Technical crap: I made the .avi files using Gordian Knot to encode them into DivX5.0.2. Sizes varied from 600x450 to 800x600.

There you go: Premiere (I assume) + DivX = teh bad.Arcane Azmadi wrote:Technical crap: I made the .avi files using Gordian Knot to encode them into DivX5.0.2. Sizes varied from 600x450 to 800x600.
You should really try to read this part of the guides on this same site. The path I can recommend you is:
1) Copy the VOBs on your HD (using smartripper, dvddecrypter or similar software)
2) Create a DVD2AVi project file (d2v) from those VOBs without using the Force Film option
3) Create an AVS script to open the d2v at point 2), and IVTC the footage by using the Decomb plugin
4) Use this AVS to edit
This should give you the best quality possible. For more help, refer to the link above
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Why does everyone say this??? I've never had a single hassle with XviD, any build, and DivX 5.0.x. Granted, I've had a buttload of hassles with DivX 3.11a ( demonspawn, like this ->turboneko wrote: There you go: Premiere (I assume) + DivX = teh bad.

because when you are editing, you want as few lossy steps as possible until after your final render, when you are ready to encode it to upload or whatever. DivX and XviD throw away a lot of visual information, and while you might not percieve the difference, the mathematics involved in encoders will not work as well, and will make it look even worse.SS5_Majin_Bebi wrote:Why does everyone say this???
