Anime, taken too seriously?
I just got don’t watching Battle Athletes Victory last night (1-7 DVD)
Now I know I still have one more DVD to watch yet but I could not pull
Myself together after number 7. I cried, and could not stop. I must be
Lame or something, I don’t know. There are a few out there that bring a
Taer to my eyes but this one for some reason, I could not stop crying. I
Think it is because I use to play soccer and my team never won, but I loved
The game. Win or loose I loved the game. To have to watch someone who
Loves to run and then walk away form it hurts me in a was I cant explain. I
I am probably boring you all here so I will stop rambling now, however
What I pose in this thread is this. Do others feel something when watching
An anime or am I just weird.
This is important to me to know, I am being serious here

The same is true of life and love
In the end, do we really know what we have Or do we only notice after we loose

Yes, I cried too when I watched it! (well, I *almost* cried)
Battle Athletes Victory is a very powerful and emotional series, so I can imagine it would be difficult for anyone to not cry.
Other series that made me feel similar are Angelic Layer and Full Moon wo Sagashite. Full Moon was the killer... I wanted to cry in literally half of the episodes.

That's not taking anime too seriously. That's just being moved by something.
Taking anime too seriously is like, "Anime is the most holy artform ever practiced by human beings, and anyone who doesn't worship every single frame ever made should be shot and then dragged through the streets behind a wild horse!"
...THAT is taking anime too damn seriously.
If you relate to something or it is emotional to you, that's not bad in my opinion.

HAHAHA, You fucking pansy!!! Go back where you came from FAG!!!!!!
....I've only cried twice when watching anime and that was with Grave of the Fireflies and the Rurouni Kenshin OVA's Reflections. Saber Marionette J almost ALMOST brought a tear to my eye.
Oh yeah, by the way, if any moron can't see teh sarcasm and playfullness of the name calling, then go fuck yourself and don't bother flaming me. 8)

I've gotten somewhat more quiet about this and generally learned to keep my impressions of emotional moments from spilling outward, but there have been times like that, yea.
For the most part, it's music that has that effect on me these days.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

You are not the only one (does not like to admit things like this), but I too have cried durning several animes. Parts of Cowboy Bebop REALLY got to me. The music still gets to me mainly, "walk in the rain" and "call me".
Watching "The End Of Evangelion" really got to me too (just watched it today, still havent fully recovered from it yet). I have not seen Battle Athletes Victory yet so I dont really know anything about that one. I am a huge soccer fan though so it is on my list of must see.
Im a little sensitive right now so I dont think thats helping the matter any but, in my opinion, if it makes me cry its got to be damn good.
But in general Anime gets to me more than "real life" movies, I think they put a lot more "emotion" into most animes.
But that may just also be my extreme need to escape from reality right now too......

"Light in the absence of eyes illuminates nothing. Visible forms are not inherent in the world but are granted by the act of seeing. Events contain no meaning in themselves only the meaning that the mind imposes on them...yet the world endures,...whether or not the mind exists..."
