What anime has the best openings? I'm not talking about just the song, but the animation and everything included. My personal favorites are:

Evangelion
Love Hina
Azumanga Daioh
Excel Saga
Revolutionary Girl Utena

Dude! Best opening sequence EVAR = Full Moon wo Sagashite season 1.
I also like Ranma season 2, Sailor Stars 2nd op, and who could forget KODOCHA SEASON 2! ULTRA RELAX, BABY!

I'd have to list Record of Lodoss War, the TV series, not the OAV (though the OAV's opening was nice, too). Too bad the opening was the only good thing about the show, haha. Well, that and the SD stuff at the end of every episode, that was kind of funny. Also, Gatekeepers/Vandread/Full Metal Panic had cool openings (but then, they're all from GONZO, so of course they all resemble each other).

-Vision of Escaflowne/I Don't Need Any Promises by Maaya Sakamoto (a lovely voice) - excellent animation quality and a beautiful song.
-Neon Genesis Evangelion/The Thesis of Cruel Angels by...Yoko...argh!!! don't have my songs with me...

Ooh thanks for reminding me. Yeah I agree Lodoss's opening is beautiful. Another Maaya Sakamoto song (Sea of Miracles).

I like the opening to Witch Hunter Robin, but it's pretty hard to beat the one from Excel Saga.
