Somethin' kinda scarey about divX

Dear Phade,

I think the org should post a warning to people going to download divX 2.1 I downloaded it a few days ago and suddenly all my divX coded stuff started playing choppy when played on Windows Media Player. I was going nuts. I thought somehow my files had gotten corrupted. I was devistated cause 1 of my vids had only one copy and it was divX encoded.

I found out that apparently my comp (Even though I've got 384mb sdram) isn't fast enough for the 2.1 codecs.

I used my system restore to go back to just before I installed 2.1 and now my vids run fine. Although for some odd reason now my 2.0 divX player doesn't work. I'll figure it out though.

Just wanted to get the word out.

There was a divx 2.1?
The earliest I recall was divx 3.11a
I know it seems odd, but... I don't think I've ever seen or even heard of anything encoded in anything older.

It's not Phades job to worry about Codec problems. How about you get something more along the lines of 5.1? Or better yet, 5.5.

i thought it was the divx player that was out on version 2.1 not the codec?

ze is right, and the divx player supposedly sucks :\
