HELP! How do I make my music video KB smaller?!

Post by Ditzy_Rizu » Fri May 02, 2003 2:51 pm

I made this music video (my very first and only one thus far) on a Mac computer in my art class at school, and now that I have finally formatted it to a .mov here on my computer (I have Windows 98), it's so damn large!!! It takes forever to send to people and even when I zip it, it's still just as big!!! What the hell do I do?!?

T-T I NEED HELP!!!! WAAAHHH!!!! ;-;

~*Rizu-chan*~

PS: I'd be SOOO appreciative if you'd reply ASAP and help me!!!

How big is it? The guides on the main page have information on how to compress your videos, although I'm not sure how you'd deal with a quicktime source :| maybe vfapi... hmm..

Bink tools from Bink/Smacker can convert Mov's into any AVI format you've got installed. Pretty sweet, or use premiere or something because it can read .mov, I think.

Bink and Smacker suck. I've tried it and it fucked up the framerate of the few MOVs I converted, and trythil reports it read 23.976fps as 23.19fps one time.

If you're in Linux:

transcode -i [FILE].mov -o [FILE].avi -x mov,<codec here> -y raw,<codec here>

If you're in Windows:

Use Premiere. If you have Quicktime installed, Premiere will read Quicktime files.

I think the only thing u can do is zip it.

Unless you can find something in your vid thats causing massive KB problems.
Maybe the music u chose.
Or if your REALLY desperate u could always shorten the clips by trimming them.
