AWA 2018 - The Video Art Track at Anime Weekend Atlanta
Greetings editors,
Anime Weekend Atlanta and The Video Art Track are once again open for submissions.
Our rules have not changed significantly and are posted here: https://awa-con.com/events/vat/
This is NOT a Masters year.
Deadlines:
The Professional Awards: 11:59 PM Thursday, August 30, 2018, Eastern Time
Everything Else: 11:59 PM Thursday, September 6, 2018, Eastern Time
Once again, Anime Weekend Atlanta and The Video Art Track have the most permissive submission rules you will find at any convention, especially in The Music Video Exposition. We remain focused on respecting the greatest possible latitude for editors to be creative, to experiment, and to share their wondrous videos with our attendees. To wit, entries need not be "music" videos, need not be "anime" videos, need not use pristine sources, have generous allowances on minimum or maximum length, and are even permitted to contain profanity and adult content (though this may limit how we can exhibit such work). We have operated in this fashion for 24 years. Find your inspiration, be creative, and please send your works to our events.
Yours,
Daric "Jingoro" Jackson
Director, The Video Art Track at Anime Weekend Altanta

I'm trying to submit a Pro entry via the submission site. However, I end up getting a "Secure Connection Failed" screen. Is that normal (and if so, please note that I ended up sending the same video twice, as I didn't know if it worked the first time or not)?

I have tested the form and things appear OK. I've contacted TnAdct1 privately about arranging their upload.
If anyone else has any difficulty, please let me know.
Please keep in mind the Professional Awards deadline is rapidly approaching. If possible, avoid the rush close to the deadline in case things like this are a problem.
Thank you,

I liked your video from last year. But then, I collect all the Utena vids. So.... Good luck!Kirbygal wrote:I'm so close to finishing my second vid. The deadline is taunting me!

Aww, thank you! Utena's one of my favorite shows. Hopefully no video compression difficulties this year.Kionon wrote:I liked your video from last year. But then, I collect all the Utena vids. So.... Good luck!Kirbygal wrote:I'm so close to finishing my second vid. The deadline is taunting me!

Indeed, I do recall that being an issue last year for your video specifically. It stood out a bit, but I'm so used to videos from just after Utena was new that it didn't bother me too much. For myself I have edited more with Utena than any other source, and still have several undone ideas. It's my third favorite series and was the source of my first video.Kirbygal wrote:Aww, thank you!
