Limitations on Linkin Park AMV's
Yes, I am one of those guys who believes that the use of Linkin Park songs in AMV's (especially in DBZ AMV's) has gone too out of control! Although I have seen some AMV's to Linkin Park music that was totally awesome (example- My December to EVA). I remember at Ohayocon when some guy made an AMV to some strange kiddy anime I have never seen (it looked like something you could make on a computer) and he put the song Cure For The Itch to it. I remeber laughing to myself after hearing all the sighs and smart ass comments when everyone knew it was a Linkin Park song to the AMV (which makes me feel sorry to the poor sucker who made it who was probably in the same room
). But anyways, with a new album coming out very soon, what are your opinions/predictions on how many AMV's will be made to the new songs?

Sorry I'm late, I was out saving your lives.....in the future!

How many? Probably way too many. Hell, there are people working on vids to their new single, and the thing isn't even out yet (afaik). wrt AMV, Linkin Park is a disease that just won't go away.....which is part of why I did that video.
Since this poor sucker, though, was not in the room but five hundred miles away when said video played, a question: did they or did they not screen the video with the intro? I'm guessing not, as the visuals that dokidoki let me use for it and the audio credit "Cure For The Itch by Those Bastards" should have clued people in that it was a parody.
At any rate I am done with Linkin Park; I only have their first CD because the radio station I was working for threw it out, and I'm firmly of the opinion that their music aint worth paying for.

To some extent I agree with you. Yes, "In the end" and the original "Crawlin" have been done to death. They need to never be used again. HOWEVER, I feel there are still some songs worth using, aka their more obscure songs. The Crawlin remix is a good example. It's a slow, Celtic song that is very much unlike their usual fare. I feel it's worth using, but others will probably disagree.
In short: LP = overused, but there still might be some fresh material worth working with.

Argh, I hate going off like this, but I can't stand all the complaining about Linkin Park videos. NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO WATCH THEM! If you don't like the music, or think it's overdone, don't download the video! There. Problem solved. Now stop complaining.
(I do realize I'm being somewhat hypocritical, complaining about your complaining when I could just as easily ignore it. It just grates on me seeing every thread about linkin park anywhere on this forum either being about how overused they are and how much they suck, or being turned into that.)

Thank you! Someone had to say something! Look, I know there are too many LP videos on this site (and I'm saying this despite the fact that I am a fam on Linkin Park), but you shouldn't discourage people from making LP videos. In my opinion, why not try different animes to LP songs. I think we've all seen enough Linkin Park/Dragon Ball Z videos, haven't we?Vazor wrote:Argh, I hate going off like this, but I can't stand all the complaining about Linkin Park videos. I would have to say that I am on both sides. I do agree that Linkin Park is overdone...but I also agree that there can deffinentally be a good Linkin Park video.
As for why this is...Linkin Park is overdone (in my opinion) because the lyrics are catchy, almost predictable. They tend to go towards the sides of anger, fear, depression, which, as people, we naturally feel. And they tend to capitalize on those emotions. Which works, the lyrics work, and they're good, but we've heard it all before. And the music is a of punk, techno, rap, and a bit of mellow and core in there as well. And they do it really well.
But that doesn't mean it won't work. "Run Away" fits really well to FF8, and there was a great AMV made to it. Both the video source and song played off of each other extremely well ,and it worked. And I think that "In the End" fits to Gundam Wing...why, who kows, but it does. I guess all I can say, is "Don't judge a book by its cover." (I know thats a very common quote, but sometimes its the most simpliest, and common ones that can have the most meaning)
Ok, I've said my stuff. If you don't like it, plz don't take it personally, but as a musician, I had to get my opinion out there. And if I already stated what was the obvious, I'm sorry you had to read this pointless posts.

I agree with both of you guys...I dont know why people give LP such a bad rap. If there music wasnt any good then we woudnt be writing in this forum. I have seen my fare share of LP vids but i think alot of them have been done well. I also enjoy there other songs and think someone should do a vid to their other songs.

For those most part I dont have anything against linkin park mvs except one things. "In the End" this song for the most part is a broken love song, yet I see people use it to DBZ and Eva for complete opposite reasons. Just for the hell of it I will post the lyrics:
And they only use it because they can use the lyrics out of context. Example: "Oh wow, he just said in the end. Wait I am getting a brain storm going! In the end + end of eva = GREAT MUSIC VIDEO!" But like I said I hold nothing against LP, I try not watch any LP videos because they are actually a pretty cool band and watching those videos would make me hate them.
- it starts with
one thing i don't know why
it doesn't even matter how hard you try
keep that in mind i designed this rhyme
to explain in due time
all i know
time is a valuable thing
watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
watch it cound down
to the end of the day
the clock ticks life away
it's so unreal
didn't look out below
watch the time go right out the window
trying to hold on
but didn't even know
wasted it all just to watch you go
i kept everything inside
end even though i tried
it all fell apart
what it meant to me
wille ventually be a memory
of a time when
i tried so hard
and got so far
but in the ed
it doesn't even matter
i had to fall
and lose it all
but in the end
it doesn't even matter
one thing i don't know why
doesn't even matter how hard you try
keep that in mind
i designed this rhyme
to remind myself how i tried so hard
in spite of the way you were mocking me
acting like i was a part of your property
remembering all the times
you fought with me
i'm surprised it got so far
things aren't the way they were before
you wouldn't even recognize me anymore
not that you knew me back then
but it all comes back to me
in the end
i kep everything inside
and even though i tried
it all felt apart
what it meant to me
will eventually be a memory
of a time when
i put my trust in you
pushed as far as i can go
and for all this
there's only one thing you should know

But I agree with you entirely. And when I read it, I think "In The End" fits better to the Escaflowne Movie.

LP is okay
Look Linkin Park is one of my favorite band I absolutely love Linkin Park, however yes certain songs have been way overdone but there are still some songs that can be done with other anime like Papercut it would go well with Akira about (God I cant remember the guys name its ticking me off bad) that one guy whoes name starts with "t" and how he starts freaking out constantly because of the drugs they put him on. or other stuff like that
Yes thats right I am an idiot
