Help with Installations

Post by Cailet730 » Mon Mar 17, 2003 5:59 pm

I am in need of some help! We got a new computer a month ago and I am trying to set it up for some video editing off DVDs....only I can't get VirtualDubAVS or Premiere or any other program to open my .avs files. I downloaded the AMVapp and the AdvancedAMVapp and installed both on my computer. I also installed an ASPI layer. Ripped the DVD with smartripper, then made the.d2v file with DVD2AVI, creating an avisynth file with just the simple line MPEG2Source("D:\myproject.d2v")and tried to open it with VirtualDubAVS and it comes up with the error:
Unrecognized Exception!
(C:\escamov\escamov.avs, line1)
(C:\escamov\escamov.avs--default1.avs, line2)

I've tried reinstalling the app pack, and then I tried installing all the programs separately, then with the pack again and I am still having this problem. .... What does this mean?

Thanks for any help

I'd say give DVD2AVI 1.86 a try. That seems to produce good results with the latest amv app pack, from what I read here.

Why don't people use the search function? This gets asked twice a week.

Ian, in all honesty, things get asked multiple times, yes...

But they're all asked an answered in so many ways, it can be extremely hard to decipher exactly what is being asked. I've had this problem on more than one occasion (and usually end up just asking you, personally, for help :P).

Cases like this where Caliet clearly spells out what's going wrong is incredibly rare and I'm sure well-appreciated, and I'm happy to see that it was resolved nicely :D.
