Post by BaHaRa » Wed Mar 12, 2003 2:11 pm

i was just wondering how cartoon network in japan is received. I assume they dub everything into Japanese?
i was just noticing how the Big O second season will be aired on toonami japan, and so it just got me thinking

I looked at the current Japanese toonami lineup and for the most part they were not Japanese Anime, but rather American Animated shows like ReBoot and Batman, no clue whether or not they're dubbed or subtitled. In any case, the only show that could really be considered Japanese Anime in their current lineup is Great Dangaioh, which I think has it's first few episodes available on DVD domestically here in the U.S. as well.

Oh yes, also on the site you can find an interview with a "草尾さん" which babelfish translates amusingly enough as "grass tail takeshi" who is a purported "dubbing artist" of "DORAGON BALL Z." So apparently they do dub the shows and there is an interest in the work of these dubbing artists or else there wouldn't be an interview one. Or perhaps more accurately seiyuu. :) I wonder who they've got playing the voices of the X-men, hrmm.

You mean Canadian animated shows like Reboot and Shadow Raiders.

Nice to see they get some good stuff over there...
