Ikasucon is proud to announce its updated Anime Music Video and Original Animation Contest!
Ikasucon is a anime con located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. 2010 marks our eighth year, and this year we've expanded our Anime Music Video contest to include original works as well!
Entry Requirements
Each individual may enter one entry per category.
Multi-editor videos will be accepted on a video-by-video basis.
Entries may not contain bumpers, title screens, MTV style credits, or any other form of identification. We will be creating our own uniform bumpers and we will not remove them for you.
The running time for videos may not exceed 6 minutes or be shorter then 25 seconds.
Videos must contain 100% anime or video game footage. Questions on this subject may be directed to the AMV Coordinator.
All videos must be in the hands of the Contest Coordinator on or by July 2, 2010.
Videos that have won at any other AMV contest before will not be accepted.
Ikasucon Staff are prohibited from entering the AMV contest.
By submitting your video(s) to this contest you authorize us to screen and distribute it under the Ikasucon AMV/Original Animation Contest Title
Entries may be disqualified for the following reasons: Objectionable content in the song or video (does not adhere to PG-13 standards), bad audio or video quality, subtitled footage that does not apply to the content of the submission, failure to adhere to submission rules, or any reason the contest staff deems necessary. If you are unsure if your video would be disqualified due to the above rule e-mail the contest coordinator and we can view the content of your video and make a decision.
Entry Format
Entries will be accepted in the following formats: MPEG1, MPEG2, Quicktime
All videos should include at least 2 seconds of black space before and after the video
Minimum resolution should be 640 x 480.
Contest Information
The normal contest's running time will be 2 hours. If we receive more videos then we have time for we will have to cut videos from the contest pool. At the same time, if we do not receive enough entries to fill this timeframe we will have to shorten it as well. A listing of videos selected for the screening may be posted on Ikasucon.org's forums within a week of the contest if timing allows. We apologize if your video does not make it into the contest, but this step is necessary.
The contest will be judged by the attendees during the screening for the Fan's Choice and Overall Originality awards. Judging Ballots will be handed out to the audience before the competition and will be deposited to the appropriate staff at the end of the screening. The scores will then be tabulated and winners announced at cosplay halftime.
You do not need to be present at the awards ceremony to win. However if you want your award and/or prizes (if available) you must either be present, have a proxy at the con to pick it up, or stop by con-ops sometime after the awards ceremony to pick up your award. Awards/Prizes will not be mailed.
You may submit entries to the following categories:
Drama/Romance
Videos in the Drama category seek to evoke emotional responses from viewers by the successful combination of music, video, and editing which usually involves dramatic subject matter or dramatic elements from the anime. Romance is like drama, except they focus on the relationships between two people. The aww factory plays heavily in this category.
Comedy/Parody
Whether parody or just wacky content, videos in this category can be pretty successful as long as someone thinks it's funny.
Action/Adventure
Videos will focus on action whether that is fighting sequences, motions of characters, or fast paced colorful imagery. The key word here is adrenaline.
Original Animation
Entries in this category may not include previously produced content of any kind. The goal here is to create your very own scene or short film using traditional or digital animation techniques.
Commercial Parody
This category is specifically for spoofs of 30-second advertisements of a product or service.
If you have any questions about your AMV submission, please send them to programming@ikasucon.org. Thanks!
