This is one of the few animes where I've hated the character so much I couldn't watch any more.
I got that feeling too, but it's WORTH the trip to the ending... I've hated very few main characters as much as this guy, but hey, you reap what you sow...
muahahaahahahahah
Damn right.
I've heard of this anime from a friend who told me what an asshole the lead male character is.He also told me about the "nice boat" ending so I didn't think it twice....
Just downloaded and finished watching ep12....without first watching the previous 11 episodes....and boy,I really enjoyed it!! (never did the same again with an anime no matter how awful it might be)
But still,I'd like Makoto's ending to have been slower and more painful.Thank god Kotonoha finished the job Sekai left in the middle...
Now,I'm thinking:should I watch the previous 11 episodes or not?
Nah,I don't think the anime deserves more than the final 5 minutes....
Sorry for the huge bump, but seeing as it's still active I thought I'd post my opinions on this.
I just finished watching the 12 episodes over the past 3 days, and I have to tell you I have really mixed feelings about it.
I only watched the first 4 episodes on Day 1, and then I decided I'd stop watching it. I have never, I repeat, never come across such a despicable main character such as Makoto. I shit you not, I was gritting my teeth throughout watching the episodes, it boarder lined on painful for me.
However, after having nothing to do for a few hours, I went back and gave it another chance. Ok I swear, by episode 8 my hatred for him knew no bounds, honestly, I actually didn't think he could get any worse. I was so wrong. I actually had to pause the episode a few times and go do something else, simply because he got on my nerves so much. I can't believe I had such a bad reaction to this anime, it's just not possible.
One other thing that greatly bothered me, but why the hell did every girl seem to like him? I mean goddamnit, I understand, it's a Harem anime, that's a given, but goddamn does he even have any redeemable feature about him? At the very least, they usually have good intentions. This guy was just a fag. Period.

I agree wholeheartedly with this.
To be honest, I can sort of understand why they make him such an ass
Spoiler :
After such a long, tormented wait, watching him play around with all the girls and be a general ass, it was like, the biggest, best moment of my sad sad life when Sekai gave him what he deserved. I actually jumped up from my chair and started cheering wildly as she was stabbing him thinking "MOAR BLOOD, STAB HIM MOAR!!!" I can't even begin to describe how great it felt to have justice dished out after all this time. That being said, Sekai's death saddened me greatly. She was my second favorite character from the series (the first being Setsuna) like I was totally expecting it, but I was hoping against hope that she would get to Kotonoha before Kotonoha got to her. And boy, Kotonoha sure was one crazy b*tch, the whole "stabbing to see if you're pregnant" thing was quite disturbing, not to mention the end where she is on the boat with Ito's head. Just... ew?
At the very least, I'm glad Setsuna managed to avoid the drama by leaving, good move I say. I was pretty dissapointed when I found out she had feelings for Ito, I was like "noo!!! NOOOO!!! Don't ruin the only good character in the series ;A;"
With that all being said, some scenes were quite intense, others just made me want to punch a wall from their stupidity.
At the end of the day, if I were to have my say, I'd recommend just ignoring all the other episodes, skipping to episode 12 and just enjoying the bloodfest. It's really not worth going through 11 episodes of pain to see that. Not for me anyway.
I died a little on the inside watching this. The plot is buried under ten-pound boobs after the first five episodes, and those are basically covering Makoto and Kotonoha's weak relationship and the lack of any sort of bond between them. To tell the truth, I only watched for the huge bloody finale, the only part of this anime that didn't disappoint me.
