we're also trying to encorage sending quality media.
Unwrapped stuff or stuff with no packaging sold in bulk tend to have manufacturing flaws in the disc plastic more often and will lead to bad burns. As long as its quality media, tho, wrapping is not a necessity.

I'll be sending Memorex... We made over 200+ video backups with the media for the con up here with not one single reject.. Last year I used the same media for 120+ backups with no rejects...sixstop wrote:we're also trying to encorage sending quality media.

These are desireable.
memorex, NEW-verbatim, pioneer, maxell, TDK(except +r), Fuji
almost every other name is worth avoiding for submissions, including sony, hp, phillips... and most budget brands

Do the DVDs have to be in cases of any sort?

it would behoove you to place them in some type of packing as we are not keeping a major supply of blanks on hand to cover up these problems.

Should work just fine... just make sure that you fill out the SASE to the place you want the discs to reach. Including a note to that effect wouldn't hurt either....

so we can send in a copy, send in a form a little late and treat it like a regular contest? Cuz that's what I'd prefer... Some peer judging instead of a panel of judges, but not as public as vcas to weed out the retards (well.MCWagner wrote:We greatly prefer to get the paperwork and disks before the deadline, but if you give us notice beforehand, then the stuff can be a little late. Take note, however, that if we don't get the paperwork and disks at all before the judging copies get sent out, then the video is still in the contest, but you wouldn't get the judging copy. (The signature isn't for entering, technically, but for judging.)IcyCloud wrote:Quick question; I know the deadline for entries is the 25th, is that also when the form and DVDs must be received ? I ask only because I plan on submitting via FTP, so the box with the form + DVDs and the video itself will likely not be received exactly simultaneously.
