Eesh... I feel lucky now. I only got into anime after I went to college, so I didn't have that whole pressure thing going. :P

My mom? Not likely. She does like Disney movies, so Miyazaki is a remote possibility (high quality, low "weird" factor), but she isn't very adventurous. The sibs are casual watchers, thanks mostly to Adult Swim. They went to Otakon last year for something to do, and I've recommended a couple of series that I thought would go over well. My dad, well... he's a fan of Aeon Flux, so he'd probably go for something actiony, but after that whole traumatic experience of stumbling across Cool Devices in his Kazaa shared folder... I'm not going near the topic. :P

my parents could never get in to anime because they cant understand it plus they wouldent let me watch it if they saw ranma 1/2 hellsing, any anime with blood or nudity adn i have many freinds that like anime like 10 but if we talk about it at school everyone thinks its gay and is cartoon porn like when i was watching ghost in the shell at school people came up to me and started yelling CARTOON PORN and everyone at lunch heard it only if people could understand that the nudity dosent matter how are other peoples schools?

For fear of Sheer humiliation, such as yours, I've kept Anime to my personal life .. i dont talk about it anywhere, unless im around ppl that i can trust (virtually no one). If ppl found out that im a total Otaku at work .. theyd probebly hang me from my toenails from the shop celing :S

Post by Keitaroisdaman » Wed Jan 14, 2004 6:22 pm

Why do we have to keep our love for anime a secret i mean its there problem that they dont like it they dont have to himuate us for watching it i mean we dont call them fags for playing football or being gothic so why make fun of us?

Because we like something that they see as childish, stupid, and/or pornish.

That or they're so in awe of our sheer amount of awesomeness.

Exactly. A few ppl in the shop where I work found out I liked Anime and instantly the conversation was " HEY, Thompson Whacks to Cartoon Porn". No one Botherd to find out what Anime is even about, its not about hentai, its just a different way to watch TV, for some of us, its more of a life style, as with me. I dont go around saying that ppl that like movies like Saving Private Ryan, CodeTalkers, ect.. are all war mongers .. ITs pretty sad when ppl have to pick on us because we like something they either dont know about or dont like. :(
