Actually, as I said earlier, *everyone* has the choice to come back to the world with an AT field.yuppa wrote:hmmmm when ya out it like that. i have to grudgingly agree. But what sort of life is it if ya came back? A dead world with no living things. just a sea of lcl. and corpse of lilith
Optimistically, you can believe that everyone will come to the same decision as Shinji because they are going through the same "soul-searching" and find themselves.
So ultimately, the world will be similar (of course the remnants will still be there) in that people will live in it...although better b/c ppl will know that stuff about themselves.
You can debate that *that* is instrumentality...coming out of that and knowing so much about yourself.
Well as you said above, I took your statement as you have predicted. I can't really say much more other than err..."sorry, write more clearly?"jim hawkings21222 wrote:chang i know what you are saying and after reading my post i can see how it may come across like that i thought describing them as "mind fucks" was the best way to give a blunt overview of what they were, so please understand i may not know every single facet of eva(although i do know alot in my op)i do understand and take to heart the TRUE meaning(self awareness/discovery/worth/etc.) of Eva, seriously i was in tears as the last eps played(especially rei(3's)-sans death and the last 2 eps with shinji and asukas' insturmentality projects.
So overall i just described them as mindfucks because to most(sad to say) eva fans the last two eps are nothing but mere random clips and alot of psycobabble crap, where as i see it as a beautiful process for the realization of self worth and awareness.
Also take note of the *disclaimer* i put at the bottom of my post, i was just throwing an idea out there asking what would eva had been like if Anno-san had decided to do it like that: a more typical anime.
to add to that i believe the unique way that he did it added to the series overall in my personal op and that is what continues to provide a solid base for new and old anime fans alike (and dare i say it may even touch them in a semi- spiritual way as it did me).
And thats my $0.02
I bolded the line that is meaningful. It is sad and I'm glad you feel otherwise. Given you probably wouldn't be posting here other wise

Agreed. You are also correct on what he has said about Eva. It *should* be that way considering what it is about...people.Fanboy_NOIR wrote:Fair point, however Gainax is not Anno. Now if the man himself would say so, thats a different story, but as i remeber correctly he completley refused to give his explanation of Eva saying something like: ''It will be what you want it to be''.
I will have counter (again) that I think Anno cares about Evangelion enough that he wouldn't let something go out as "official" without him approving it.
Now *that* is just my speculation and NOT fact.
I'd still like to say that Shinji strangling has to do with reality. Him strangling her for a negative reason would really discredit the changes that have gone on in his life.
I do agree that he has undergone severe mental things during the movie, HOWEVER, at the end he overcomes it all and is content.
For him to do this for a negative reason would really discredit this (well not fully) IMO.
I believe Ritsuko or Fuyutski say that Humans have reached the pinnacle of their biological evolution and thus there is no more evolution with our current bodies.Toecutter wrote:Of course, now the question comes down to this: how does evolution work with LCL and AT Fields?
He/She also says that that's the reason for Instrumentality...to sort of force the next step.
As I said earlier, it's also debateable that the next step of evolution IS coming back with the knowledge of yourself.
