EDIT: I also want to ask you all a question:
What did you find the hardest on the first round? ^^

Two things actually.Nya-chan Production wrote:What did you find the hardest on the first round? ^^
1) Trying to create a video about myself. It might sound easy, but I had a really hard time since there are so many things I could have done, but in reality, many I would rather not have to remember. So I went with the part of me that I've only recently discovered. When the comp comes out you will understand.
2) Those damn standards. I know more goes into these videos, but looking at the contestants, I'm one of the the old guys of the group and my editing style is really old school and not as flashy as that of this generations. So I was stuck deciding whether to take a chance and alter my style to match most of you others or just try my luck with what I know best; basic but solid editing without any flashyness that gets the point across.
Sadly, It seems like that is not quite enough to get me far so I'm likely gonna try some new stuff this round and it will either get me through or I'm packing up.

1: Trying to create something based upon my personal experiences i guess is where i went with it, luckily i had an ironic connection with the source i used to it worked out in the end but with my lack of editing experience it didn't come out as well as i had hoped :/
2: Getting said source my god that took at least 3 days no stores had it and i ended up getting it from a friend of a friend and i was pretty sure the dvd was a hong kong bootleg :/...maybe even a pirated copy *sigh*

I'd definitely agree with that first point. I think any sort of challenge where I have to describe myself (essays and academic stuff included) is super difficult for me. Plus the time limitation (both video length and time we could edit) didn't leave me a whole lot of time to think of a solid concept...though I actually kinda liked the result I got from thinking on my toes >__>. This was my first time using "old school"-ish anime too, so that was a little interesting. The footage wasn't already "nice" to look at, so it was challenging to have to put extra effort in to make it work.Krisqo wrote:Two things actually.Nya-chan Production wrote:What did you find the hardest on the first round? ^^

Well, I should answer too, shouldn't I?
For me, the hardest thing was to actually fulfill what I wrote about myself, which was part about hating to shorten song too much. So I had a trouble with footage, I had to repeat one scene out of "concept" (bonus points to those who find that scene) and furthermore I repeated four scenes "on concept" (it's the last part).
I think that now it is pretty clear which anime I used
The part about looking how to describe myself wasn't that hard, actually. I saw the theme and thought: "Hmmm... this song might work...", looked on my list of sources, and knew what it'll be.
Editing is another thing ^^;; (I screwed one thing there which I could've done better with the use of Photoshop, but I let it be in the end (I realised how after sending) and I'll fix it for solo release :< )
