This other board's a geek-type board for people who live in the metro area where I live. The hundred-so users are all a part of some fandom.

So basically, I tell this guy that he needs to learn respect. I tell him that he's in the one fandom that everyone else hates, so he should know better than insult other fandoms. I mention the many anime conventions out there and how all of them have AMV screenings and even workshops. I say that everyone has their own interests, and that even though he's entitled to his own opinion and he can say whatever the hell he wants, he should consider respecting other people's interests. And I said we should end the argument and move on.

Now, around the same time I had gotten into an argument with the same guy over another thread of mine he had locked because he claimed it was off topic.


In the chat room that went along with this board, none of the moderators or admins were there, and I started calling that moderator some pretty foul stuff behind his back.


Later that day I was banned again. The worst part was that this guy deleted every single post or thread I had created even if the thread was active and had a lot of posts. Pretty dickheaded move and I think annoyed some other people. Found out the ban was not for the AMV argument but was for the crap I said about him in the chat room. So obviously some snitch told him what I said.

Golden rule #1: Don't talk about a mod behind his back. Some ass will tell him what you said.

I'm not mad about it, the owner may let me back in. But the whole deleting all my post thing was pretty extreme.

truthfully if it were me, I'd write that community off completely and find a different one you can partake in that is similar and a lot more cooler XD

I wouldn't worry about trying to get back in, or anything because its going to mean that you will have to deal with MODS you don't like...

Dealing with other members you don't like is one thing, but if you can't get along with the management it might not be worth trying to stay around

Ps. I'm not saying its your or his fault... I'm just saying obviously you two clash, and in a situation like that, it's not worth hanging around.

That's the thing about opinions... Most people are incapible of properly expressing them with the due amount of qualifiers and such - they simply spew out their biased and skewed (and on the interent usually blatently self-serving or forcefully derogitory) perception of reality as if it were fact. You'll find very few people can express their opinions in the proper context and that expression is often the problem.

For example, someone could light kittens on fire to express their belief that they're cute. I'm sure nobody has a problem that someone thinks kittens are cute, but there's a fucking huge problem with how that opinion is being expressed.

I feel the same way about opinions, actually. I'm tired of people saying something sucks and acting as if that's fact. My friend calls that "Factual opinion" which is a oxymoron.

For instance, I found most boy bands to be utter crap, but I could give a rats ass who actually listened to that stuff. Same thing about Country. You can do whatever you want as long as your not maiming or killing people.

Speaking of that kitten bit, I think I remember some online debate spawing where some famous and vocal member of the furry community saying that burning kittens was not immoral or something. I don't know the details of the argument though.

Having a moderator use his powers unwisely because he's mad at someone (in this case due to an argument over AMVs and me calling him stuff behind his back in a chat room) is not new. On one board years ago, I got into an argument with a girl who's screen name was literaly "bitch" and she was a mod. Eventually she started trying to "win" the argument by deleting all my posts and replacing them with things like "I like taking it up the ass" or "my penis is tiny" or "I like little boys penis". Far from mature, but she was so desparate to win and feel like she was in power. On another board long ago, another mod just deleted my posts outright during the debate... if I didn't say anything, then he must have been right.

No one wins an arguement online apparently. Unless it's a political blog maybe.

if a mod can't be objective then they arent worth being around... get your contact info to the friends you made there but leave the community its not worth it
