Linux doesn't count, Slackware or not.
With linux, it's too easy to get root. Well, if can get there without causing sed faults or kernel panics, at least. If you're more daring, you can install Linux - such as Blue hat, Dumbian, Susie or Slackerware.
And once you're root, there's not much (programming-type) hacking you can do, much less configuration: Want to make your desktop background change based on your connected digital thermometer? Recompile KDE!
