oh fuck off, roke. Im sick of people telling me to lighten up. My whole fucking life has been lived in pursuit of what others wanted, and now i have some self righteous prat telling me to lighten up. How about you get more serious, pal. How about that? Huh? why is it more acceptable for you to take things as a joke than it is for me to take things seriously? Tell me that.

First, I'm the last person you should call self-rightous. Ok? I may come off as it with my way of typing, but before you start calling I just tend to take offense to people slamming my chosen religion as a whole without even considering that there may be some shred of worth in Christianity. This has turned more into an "argument" between you and I, rather than something concerning the whole topic.
Some of you have said some pretty nice and interesting things, but I still don't understand where the "Fuck you" came from.

You're exactly right! There is, alot was lost in interpretation and transfer, and like I said I never said I had a problem with original christianity, just the corrupt derivitives that run the world today and most of it's people. Not even considering the fact that ancient religions had their definitive higher groups of initiates and high priests, to whom a lot of essential wisdom was kept highly esoteric. The commoners tended to not get the whole story, and this branched off into thousands of different interpretations which formed into huge religions.I don't think that it doesn't make sense, I just think there are things left out.
No, I'm not looking for proof, I'm looking for truth. Strung throughout all the major religions, behind all the beliefs and dogmas and every great thought throughout history lies the same hidden truth, somewhere. Thats what "Theosophy" is about. In fact.. yeah, here I'm putting that paper up, it contains a lot of good quotes. It contains some symbol clarification that I probably mentioned here a few times already so just ignore that, it was a persuasive essay it had to have backing details :\
Its not about faith, its about truth. Truth in religion does exist, and what I was saying in this thread is that nobody these days seems to give two shits about it - they all just live out their indifferent, biased lives without caring whats true and what is false. If something's false or without basis, then trusting it is blind faith, and sadly alot of modern christianity is all about that. Faith is one thing, faith without reason is another. Saying you should just believe without reason is being lazy, because greater truths exist. Anyway if god made your brain I'm sure hed rather have you use it's most powerful tool (logic) than not. Religion can be logical, most people are unaware of that fact.

And of course I dont want this damn religion issue coming between us. I dont talk with other certain good friends of mine about religion because I value their friendship and know that it would get inbetween us somehow. I love you too rachel

As for what chaotic said about christianity being the worst, I do agree. Not only for its history (more blood lies in the hands of the church than did even ancient sacrificial tribes. Very righteous. You wont find any hindus running around fighting holy wars.) But just because out of all faiths except maybe islam, it's lost the most meaning behind its dogmas and symbols. I dont respect a faith that dosent recognize or understand its roots at all.
To conclude... meh
didnt I swear I'd never talk about religion here again? Fark me

Try dressing as me for a day and walk through a public area. Short of a big verticross stapled to my body, I dont think I could look any weirder and offensive, and am told this many times a day by people I dont even know. But it's okay, I can always retaliate by eating their childrens genitals with baby fat for flavoring.

Religion is something I don't feel too strongly about.
However, I think a one on one, mano a mano, personal connection with a higher power/being/ideal, whatever you want, beats ritual, doctrine, and most ideas from ANY organized religion.
It is precisely because of this that I view religion as not being important, because technically my life, and the way I live it, IS my religion. God is everywhere, and may or may not have some plan for my life that I have to follow or deal with - who knows, who cares? And life is a carnival ride - one that can possibly be slowed down, but it never stops until the end, which is death.
So why worry about "enlightenment", moral superiority, things like that? You'll have plenty of time to ponder or attain these in the afterlife. If you don't think there is an afterlife, then what good is 100 years (if you're lucky) of attempting to reach a supreme zen state, really?
We all have free will, including the free will to not have to try to understand or care about God. Use it.
