I'm already using Space-Dye Vest for a video so don't steal it. :P

Anyway, When the Water Breaks is on LTE's second album. Their first album is also pretty good. The last few tracks are all one long improvised song. Good stuff. But you'll have a harder time finding LTE in music stores, since Dream Theater has gotten more popular while their side project has sort of faded away.

I was wondering about that. Truth be told I would have a better chance being elected president through write-ins than "hacking a server."

Thanks Farlo.

I've updated to add more motion and to clarify story. All comments are welcome and I still may make more changes myself.

Hey -

Just so you know, I'm alive, and I'm glad the project seems to be coming together nicely (whereas I, conversely, seem to be falling apart lately - at least as far as all the new interests and committments I get myself into...)

I'll look over the new segments soon, and I'll have to try and get mine re-started also (I'll have to keep my fingers crossed that none of the files got corrupted in the last few months - if something did, I'll just have to re-do it from scratch...)
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Yey! I'm free!

Can anybody tell me how to how to make good flashes and sparkles? I don't like to use a plain white matte because it makes the flash look too soft or even muddy. And sometimes upping the brightness/contrast can turn the video into a garish mess. Any advice would be great! :D

Now for comments on Coffee's track:

I really like Part 1. Your editing there follows the momentum of the music pretty well. However, while the music's momentum increases after Part 1, your editing seems to lose some of its steam. I think adding more movement and cuts will give that part more "oomph." :P

Some specific points:

- The greyscale effect. Having never seen the show, I can't really tell which parts of your video were originally greyscale and which parts you altered, though I've got a hunch. :P This is just a thought, but maybe the higher-energy parts might look better in color? You could try fading in and out of color at certain musical transitions for a cool effect.

- Musical transitions. 0:26 and 0:55 are the big ones. The music at 0:26 made me think of something choppy instead of the smooth transition that you have now. The major transition at 0:55 made me think of... a motorcycle vrooming off into the distance. :D Since you obviously can't do that here, I'd suggest anything with LOTS of motion. You could try applying the zoom effect. Try zooming from 80% to 130% with this border on top. It'll blend right in with the other "small picture" scenes though it's actually a little smaller. [Of course, if it doesn't work, then it doesn't work. Don't feel obligated to do exactly as I say just because I made that border file. :P]

- Still images. They're nice, but wait until you discover the wonders of panning and zooming. :P I've made it a rule for myself to apply movement to any still shot lasting longer than one second, with rare exceptions.

- Flashes. I like your flashes that match the music at 0:49 and 1:27. However, I noticed that you only used two images to match the three heavier beats at the end of each group of flashes, flashing the first image twice. I think you can make a bigger impact by flashing three different images here. Especially since those three heavier notes don't actually have the same pitch. Nitpicky, I know, but it's subtle things like these that make an effect stand out. :P

- The ending. I was thinking about how your segment ties into Bum's and realized that it might look odd to have a black-and-white baby picture launch right into an action/thriller segment. :P An easy remedy is to put the baby picture where the wedding picture is now, and let the cry come out of the darkness. I think it would be a simple yet effective transition.

Overall I really do like your segment. You just gotta give the second half a little more energy. :P Hope that was helpful... and not too overbearing. xP

Otohiko: I hope your files are okay! I also hope that you watched more of Arjuna in the past few months, as the lack of familiar footage seemed to be your primary problem before. :P

Wow, just realized that I used :P eight times above. That might be a new record.

Apply the convultion kernel filter (any decent image/video editor has one) and keyframe the offset at something above 0. I've bein told that gives the most realistic flashes.

Ok, finally back in town. Thanks for the input Jasper and if anyone else has any nit-picks, now's the time.

Ok, on to Jasper's specifics:

The Greyscale Effect
I didn't add any greyscale, it's 100% the source footage's fault. While the series itself is in color, this one flashback episode is all black and white. Therefore to get rid of the greyscale I would have to change my source footage and concept. (There is still time for this, if the greyscale will look to out of place with the rest of the video. I'll leave this call to Pen-pen.)

Musical Transitions
I like these ideas and I will work on this. I'll play around with motion, zoom, and other transitions. Oh, and thanks for the border.

Still Images
I'll playaround with the stills some more, though I really like the 0:21-0:23 sequence and the ending, so those will probably stay the same.

Flashes
Done and done, or at least it will be.

The Ending
Like I said I like ending fine, though this is a simple change that I am not opposed to if that's the general conscious.
