NekoCon 11 AMV Contest: the WINNERS!

Boo as usual my Esca AMV was too old school to be appreciated by a mainstream crowd.

I think we've all felt a similar way about our being "snubbed" at some time. It's happened to all of us. I went three years before inspiration brought about "Go Ask Haruhi" and I finally started appearing in the contests. I think it was then I finally understood the importance of hitting the right combination of song and scenery. Of course, "White Rabbit" was the obvious choice for the anime I used. It was a "Why didn't I think of this before?" revelation. Even more to the point, "why hasn't anyone else done it?"

I can give you a true opinion if you want it. Just don't force a concept into being if you are low on the proper scenery. Drama, in addition to being the most populated category in any AMV contest, is extremely dependent on mood, balance, timing, and the story. It's tougher than it looks to do right by this category. It reminds me of the fangirl who complains that her character profile video didn't make the finals for Romance. It may not be intentional, but it happens. Upbeat and Action are also similarly confused. The only definite we have is comedy, and THAT'S tough to master.

Anyway, just keep cranking out ideas. Sometimes it's all anyone can do to find inspiration...

First of all, YAY FOR THE FORUMS BEING BACK!!!

Second, thanks to thundercatlord for going through the trouble of posting the linked list of winners.

Third, provided I am ushered in by the powers of NekoCon, I will be on AMV staff for next year. I hope to have a significant part in fixing (read "modifying and improving") the AMV contest.

Go to the NekoCon web site and look for a contact email address for Elvis. Better yet, go to the NekoCon forums (create an account if you have to) and send him a PM to make sure he has all your information. The entry forms should have asked for all your contact information including mailing address. Still, it wouldn't hurt to let him know you would like your reward...

Just thought I'd let you know that my prizes came in the mail today. Also should say that I got thundercatlord's congratulations letter. Prizes were right though, so no big problem. I'm just curious if thundercatlord's going to get my letter instead. hahaha

I do know that Brad DeMoss' "Fix You" won best Drama/Romance (out of a crowded field of 15 finalists), as it should have

Wow! Best out of 15? Amazing. Humbling (particularly the "as it should have" part).

Strangely enough, it had never occurred to me that I had won anything. I was so busy with my new house (including the fact that it was in a fire evacuation area) that when I got a note from the post office telling me I had a certified package, I thought the IRS was auditing me. A doubly pleasant surprise that not only was I not being audited, but that I had won something.

Thanks so much! I miss everyone at Neko-Con terribly, but between the economy and my new mortgage, I'm afraid I don't have as much money to travel as I once did.

Well, I just got a notice from UPS that I had a package at their office....unfortunately, I just recently moved, so by the the time I got the notice....the package was sent back....GRR And I sent a PM on the Nekocon forum to "Elvis" a long time ago with my new address, so I don't know why the package was sent to the wrong address...*sigh* Well hopefully I can get it sent out again..
