Semantics AHOY!![]()
and As of this post general society sees mixing Japanese cartoons with music as geeky.
Not you or I, and as of now Oil barrens and WTO leaders do not make AMVs.

I say we are geeky too. I mean, how many people do I know in person that like anime? Let's see, 5, if that? And most of them are pretty geeky by themself. Now, add to that how many people hate on anime and call it stupid or geeky (something-awful.com anyone?) and the fact that society still does not see anime as a legitimate alternative to regular live action television shows, I'd say yes, we're pretty geeky.
Oh, and take that one step farther, stick us in front of a computer for hours on end cutting and re-arranging clips from our favourite shows to a song to create an AMV. That just adds another whole level on to the geekieness.

well if Something you do is geeky then you are geeky. That's all there is to it. If you can't accept that and keep your pride in tact, then you have problems.Greggus1 wrote:There's no doubt that most AMVers are geeky. But you are not taking the control over who I am away from me. No fucking way.
This of course doesn't mean you are like.. this huge geek without a life or something, but when you get this defensive.. one has to wonder :O

I should've explained myself better (My one-liners always sucked). Most AMVers are geeky; that's a fact. And if you do something geeky, you are geeky. But nobody said you couldn't try to change things. I think what I do here is cool, and I think I'm not a geek; I try to keep a balance. There will always be those who approach things in a gung-ho fashion; but as this hobby becomes more popular, there will be more people who will treat it as just that: a hobby. Less work, and more fun. AMVing, and who you are, all depends on your approach. But what society thinks changes every second, and we have the freedom to create those changes.

...Ok let's put this is different terms.
If you put sunglasses on a pile a shit. It doesn't then become something cool. It's still just a pile of shit. (I of course don't mean that Amvers are piles of shit)
Same with amving. There isn't exactly a cool way to to make AMVs... I really don't think there are to many different ways to .. Open an editing program and mash clips together. I mean, I see what you're saying with the different levels of involvement. As in, those who like.. Put their whole life into it, and then those who treat it as just a hobby, or something to do for fun, but still.
