Well put, but it's not that I dont like it, but it's... Umm how do I put this... Uncomfortable. Kinda cool, but uncomfortable. Like being in the supermarket, when someone starts talking to you, and you know you should know ho they are, but you dont remember who, and then 2 hours later, you remember they went to Highschool with you.Beowulf wrote:To openly say you dont want people to enjoy your work is stupid. I'd like to be popular. Everyone does. Do I want it so bad it affects what I make? Nope.

Wait, wait wait wait.!..
Shlow down!
The question: What???
I come in here, post a thread about how I enticed a handful of my buddies to come over and share an evening of AMV's with me by promising them good videos that they haven't seen (from the top-10%) and videos they have seen and liked.
I make it all official and give acknowledgements to the creators whose vids got the best reactions during the viewing. Since I have nothing to offer for a prize, I decide that Fame, a picture of a badly-named dishwashing detergent (which is right up there with Liberty floor stripper), will be the symbolic prize.

Now what's with this beefs for Koop and Euphoria? Note the original post: Euphoria is not mentioned. In fact, I mentioned in a later post that Euphoria, while well-received, wasn't at all the favorite. Reason? It's an overwhelmingly technical video about RahXephon, a title which noone in the room even saw. What's more, I'm probably the only one in the room who did enough tinkering with videos to appreciate how hellishly impossible a lot of the things Koop produced are. Thus, during it's playback, comments like "Holy shit" and "Headfuck X_X!!" came exclusively from my chair.
Euphoria is certainly a technical achiever and don't you try to take credit away from Koop for that. Otherwise... to the audience, a simple Naruto vid seemed more likeable because fans of that title were abundant, and Elvis vs. Anime seemed more technically impressive to them - since it had large variety of titles and characters in an unusual setting, they could immediately see the results of heavy editing which in Euphoria might not have been as apparent to the untrained eye (hey, for all they knew - the funky floating boxes could have been part of the anime). So, you can't accuse me of creating another Euphoria-worship thread, though I will say that vid is a gem.
Lastly - Nick, please, don't exaggerate. I didn't think you had a self-esteem problem. I'd never call you 'some fat 11-year-old' - since so far, I didn't notice you act that way, don't blame the fact that you're not an editing legend on the current editing legends - if you want to blame anyone but yourself, blame the viewers or lack thereof. I looked at your vids and you seem to be coming along as a creator, and your downloads are mounting slowly but surely. Create a great vid, promote it well, and there's no reason people won't like it as much as they should.
Why, I'm a self-proclaimed amateur. I won't even try touching floating boxes or mad anime crossovers, since I'm not a very techy guy. Granted, I still like it if people see what I do, but I don't care for fame or mad popularity - give me a coupla good viewers and that's about enough. Creators should still live for the quality, not quantity of audience.
Besides, come on people, this was meant to be a lighthearted thread about a lighthearted AMV get-together, so cut the depressing crap and issues of fame. Like the fact that a handful of average guys in their mid-to-late-teens who like anime and live in the same town really means anything in terms of universal fame and acceptance?

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Thats really not it. I've seen people that have been doing this for far longer than 2 years that still, to put it bluntly, suck. If you wanna be a "Famous AMV Creator" (fucking oxymoron.. we are such a niche it's not even funny) you create shiny videos that jack the masses off. Once you got that down, you have the midas touch. To make actual GOOD amv's, it takes drive, practice, and to put it bluntly, creativity.Nemoxs wrote:Lets all get completely smashed.. on kool aid and mt.dew.. WOOOO.
