as an interesting side note, I can read that pretty clearly on my laptop LCD screen without having to highlight it ;ppen-pen2002 wrote:Here's the Eva connection. Not a big spoiler but some people are picky.

Leave it to those high-speed university networks and a server that probably only has one or two people downloading at any given time.
Of course, it goes down every Friday morning because I have to stick it in my backpack and cross campus for CS lab, but hey.
---
I actually looked up the EVA thing, and then the word 'Instrumentality' in the dictionary. The two fit together pretty well. Not quite 'instrumental mentality', but more like 'a tool for bringing something to its conclusion'. So that's what's behind all this...

I LOVE DOUBLE POSTS.
No, seriously, something just occured to me. How many of us said we wanted to do a Haibane video when we started this thing? And yet no Haibane. Or Lain, or NieA, or anything else ABe other than Pen-Pen's avatar. I might take one on after I finish Third Stone or 13'37" or whatever I end up calling it, but I was wondering if anyone else was still interested in using those series.

I'd like to use Lain! Especially since it's sitting there asking for attention.
Now, I think it's a matter of finding the right idea. Of course, there's a plethora of seemingly-appropriate King Crimson material for me... but I'd like to see if anything else is worth a try first
Another thing that occured to me looking over the videos is the lack of any real lighthearted and humorous videos. Well, Third Stone is probably the closest, but it's not really very humor oriented. The two series that I have available for that sort of purpose right now is KareKano and AMG.
Now, if someone has anything I might do with those 3 (that I'll feel like doing) - do tell. Otherwise, I'll likely crawl back into my musical niche, which could be both a good and a bad thing

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

For that matter, I think I'll put the Lain and Cowboy Bebop OSTs on the FTP. They're almost entirely instrumental, and might have some good stuff to use for the project. I don't know about using them with the series they come out of (I always kinda thought of that as somehow cheating the process, could be wrong though, if someone finds a way to do it creatively), but they might be fun for something else.
I think there's a bit of a jazz shortage right now.

And oh - Pen-Pen
God! I just saw that section and that made hair on the back of my neck stand up
Excellent work. It keeps growing on me. Just get the earlier section smoothed out, and you've got an excellent 'nightmare' AMV there.

As for jazz - well, now that you mention it, perhaps it's a good time to look in that direction. I'll see if I find anything there.
I have the Lain and Bebop OST's actually, so I'll hear them again, too.

And also... yes, a big round of applause for Jaspe-Isis.
Excellent, excellent video. Disturbing, very much so, but absolutely an excellent work that is bound to be effective for project purposes. Great work!

No Abe, And no Miyazaki other than one spirited away vid. I'd like to do something with Haibane Renmei, especially since I have the DVD rips sitting on my computer at home but I don't know if I'm up to it. HB seems like a hard series to make a video to, I've only seen one that I really liked (Charcol Dreams sketched.) I'm starting to think of a Miyazaki tribute depending on how many of his movies I can get my hands on.
I love darker anime and so it isn't suprising that my videos tend to be dark, but I'm looking to do somthing more light hearted next and I'm looking almost exclusivly at Jazz songs so theres a good chance I'll be able to fill two gaps at once.
Otohiko - For Lain? I somehow doubt you'll get anything lightheated or jazzy out of that. So much of the series takes place in bizzare landscapes or the twisted world of the wired that KC might just be the best bet. The very emptiness of much of the scenery might fit very well. So many people make horror or action vids to it it might be nice to see it as a soundscape a la The Wasteland. KareKano would definatly get you a more lightheated vid if that's what your in the mood for.
I was looking back at my reviews for "Soldier's Daughter" and I should be banned from talking about the future [my reply to my first ever review which said the song was too slow]
