If they are interested in trying to make sure everyone watches every video... you can stream them similar to how the org does it. The code would check to see if the whole video had been played before you can go on to the next one and you have to watch all of them in order to vote.

It looks like some people do not understand the spirit of AWA Pro and frankly that's just sad. It's sad that generally the worst culprits as far as setting the AMV community backwards has often been some of its own members' prejudices. Do you not realize the people who sent these H videos (and whatever else has content someone may not want to watch) to AWA because they want to know honestly what their peers think? And to prove that AMV creators judge them worthy of winning an award. This is historically significant because there was a time when contests with respected judging panels and processes didn't exist and audience voting was king. Hell people complained about AX this year and judging. That alone proves the concept of AWA Pro is still very important.

I'm glad as a contest coordinator that I would watch everyone's videos multiple times regardless of whether I agreed with their content or enjoy them and properly do my job that the community now seems to demand from people who run contests. Yet some people in the community believe that same courtesy doesn't work both ways because it's not their job.

Have a disagreement with the content or message of a video? Nut up and watch it. If you think this content shouldn't be in the contest and it should be re-tooled then make informed commentary. Come here and let people know what you really think. That's honesty. That's courage. Do you find video #XXX disgusting or offensive? Watch it and then say why.

In closing I need to point out that I have heard rumors that because of the hentai AMVs in the contest this year some community leaders are outraged

On a more serious note. Anyone here every ready JP anime blogs? A big one for example like Earlbox (http://www.earlbox.sakura.ne.jp/) might very well contain a couple H manga scan pages and comments along with other otaku stuff of the day. Ever notice how most of those JP blogs don't have some big dumbass "show 18+ content" button on posts? Because it's part of that otaku community and commentary. How AWA Pro deals with this kind of content needs to be based on what this community decides. Are you going to acknowledge that some of this content is frankly part of the community and some people want your commentary? Blow through it quickly to see if anything is of value since you can't tell till you watch it? Outright ban it? Now I want to point out that a separate H Pro contest could be made but that doesn't affect all other types of content that people may say ugh video blows stop after 30 secs or these live action vids are stupid, or what about a video without explicit content visually but covers disturbing material. Those have the benefit that you don't know till you watch it.

One thing I'm proud of with my AMV involvement at ACen was that in the main contest we showed some videos that years before may not have been shown. As I recall there was a koi kaze video one year that made some in the audience squirm a little. The point here is that we watched that video. We didn't say hrm topic incest = incendiary, ban it. As far as how I get people to sit through those videos for the creators it's because I've manually ordered the contest for about the last 4 years. That works for us since we didn't do audience judging.

My point about Pro is that it's supposed to be a give and take experience. The submission is the give. The judging process is what people take out. It's not supposed to be just another dumping grounds contest. That's why I argue this point.

You told them nothing. The only thing someone might infer is that you are offended by H footage or believe it shouldn't be in the contest. You may very well have a good reason for doing this. But at no point did you tell them anything about what they did with the footage. I haven't submitted in quite awhile but from what I can see from my archive acquisitions there clearly has been an increase in this type of content submitted. If it has become a problem for some people then it's best those people are open about it.

It's supposed to be a quality contest, but in fact about 1/4th of those vids can be deemed "Pro". Others are Live Action, trolls and just average videos (sorry to their authors, but it is so) - honestly, most of the AMVNews.ru competitions (however much I don't want to admit it) spark better and more original videos these days. I wonder why this contest has degraded that much and I would maybe like to ask the coordinators - have you noticed this and are you just hoping it will go away by itself or haven't you noticed at all?

I don't necessarily agree with the "trolling" part but editors like to just submit whatever video they can. I'm kind of at fault this year because I submitted a very unfinished video which I shouldn't have even submitted.

Not to be mean or rude, (as that's not my intention for replying to this, plus I consider you a good friend) the message it sends to me is:

"I won't even give this a chance."

It also makes me feel like I wasted my time working on something I had fun making if nobody's even going to consider it. I don't care if my videos win or lose, but I do like to think that it had an honest shot at competing.
