Like I said, so long as it says that there's something sexual. I don't really care about how much there is or what gender it's aimed towards.BasharOfTheAges wrote:But not to what degree or to what sexual orientation.guy07 wrote:I get the idea, but at least you'd know that there's sexual content in the amv.
'Fan service' as a video category?

Everything came from nothing, therefore everything is nothing.
There's nothing to worry about.

And even further, the bath scene in, say, Totoro might be considered fanservice to lolicons. A term with such a dilute meaning no longer has usefulness to it when you could apply just about anything given the correct application of the very broad term.
There's also the belief in some circles that "fan service" is synonymous with "pandering to the interests of the fans" (by linguistic analysis of the term, this holds) in which case a series like Lucky Star would contain fan service merely by the subject matter.

Yeah, it should be what it is for. However, there was nudity in Project Ayumix release 2 and that wasn't mentioned anywhere in the description. That may not be the kind of fanservice you are talking about, so lemme give more examples.JaddziaDax wrote:guy07 wrote:I'm sure there's got to be some kids under 18 that should be forewarned if it's a fan service/hentai video.
isn't that what the video description is for?
In Koopiskeva's SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUULLLLLLL GGGGGGGGGLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOO, there was fanservice. No warning
Kaxi's Nur Geträumt MEP had fanservice. Also, no warning.
Just a couple of examples
The video description really isn't used as a warning at all. It would be really great if there was a warning in the video descriptions.
I guess, unlike alot of you people, when I look for an AMV or Anime, I don't look for fanservice or gross stuff like that. A warning in the description would be nice to have, since I hate screening AMVs for content.
Maybe checking a box to put it under "Fanservice" category isn't the best idea, however. It is a very dilute term, from hentai to Haruhi groping Mikuru's breast's. (eww... poor Mikuru T_T)

You're clearly a lot more sensitive to fanservice than most people are, and so the definitions of what is considered "fanservice" are going to be as different as what some people consider to be effects or not. Ayumix 2 has a brief segment that doesn't even show nipple, to most people it's not even any more offensive than the Sailor Moon transformations (you know they're getting naked, they're changing their clothes, AND IN PUBLIC. The sailor scouts are all exhibitionists), so I doubt the creators would consider it a "fanservice" video and would click the box.
The problem with having a fanservice category is that the definitions are just too broad. Sure, a few people would utilize it properly, but if everyone didn't then it would make the whole thing an exercise in futility.
