How many amvs does it take to kill a song?

With me, it's not that a lot of vids kill a song, but anything that is overdone frustrates me...

You see, I'm the kind of person who tends to have strong visual associations with music. So sometimes, when I see good video to a certain song - it gets stuck in my head and I immediately start associating the song with that video. So if I see a different video (and god forbid, one that's inferior) done to that song, it starts feeling... wrong. So generally, once I see a good video to a certain song, I start avoiding any others altogether. Unless they're REALLY reputed to be good.

So, it takes 1 good vid for me.

Personally, I'd LOVE to see another AMV using any of my songs on my list! ^_^

I don't own them, but I love the song itself, then the question becomes whether or not the person's editing is up to par with the "POWER" of the song he/she chose...

To be precise, I haven't seen many "Heaven" vids or "Stay (Airscape Mix)" vids...

Especially Stay, it's like nobody likes it!

Agreed. Nobody wants to use a song that some other amazing video used, because it's a lot to live up to. I mean, I could imagine how many people saw Shameless Rock Video and thought, "nobody'll ever do 'Speed King' in another AMV" (at least anytime soon). I know I thought that, because the video was so well done nobody would want to try and touch that.

The same goes with other excellent videos. Nobody uses 'My Iron Lung', 'Believe', 'Mamboleo', 'Must Be Dreaming', etc., etc. past the principle video that brought it to light, at least that I've seen.

The odd exception to this seems to be 'Engel', which I've seen used in a fair share of videos past KC's version of it.

I don't mind seeing more than one AMV done with the same some as longs as the editor tries to do something very different from the previous one. You can't deny that some songs can be use on many different videos and on many different levels. However you must be sure that yours is unique and not just an imitation.

1... 1 FREAKING VIDEO! that's all it takes... you can see that... and say OH MY GOD! THAT WAS THE WORST BASTARDIZATION I HAVE EVER SEEN! and go burn your entire collection of the artist(s) CDs.

only one? hahahha I always thought it would be 41 times that would kill a song rather than to have it just die off like the rest that follow eh? Although the originals came be hard to tame if ya just kick it in the right spot
