Post subjects are a waste of time

Post by Xanthrax » Sun Jun 08, 2003 1:57 am

Dude, the original movie raped the fuck out of the book. I guess that it might be all right if you watch it without having read the book, but I just find it to be really terrible when put next to the book.

I love the Dune series of books by Frank Herbert and, bar the handful of few glaring continuity errors that they've made, I've really enjoyed the more recent Prelude To Dune and Legends Of Dune books that Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson have worked on.

yeah, i did watch it before i read the books actually. and yes, i can see how it could be percieved that it raped the fuck out of the books, but its david lynch, what did you expect.. he's probably the most self indulgent filmmaker of our time.. still, what made me completely fall in love with the film wasnt the story itself, it was the design.. there was an immense ammount of effort put into this film productionwise all to create david lynch's personal visual vision of the book into life

Well... Frank Herbert liked the movie.

However, I will admit I've never read the book, but I am also aware that the movie is very different from the book... I have a number of friends who hare read Dune and some hate the movie and others love it despite the differences.

I like the movie just because it has its own unique feel... but once I read Dune, I'll see how I feel about the movie then.
