definitely the most emotional scene that I can remember in a while. HxH definitely knows how to break away from the mold, as by the end of this arch it show how both humans and monsters can be equally good and evil in their own way.

Also looking forward to the next arc quite a bit, which may be the last one we see for a while.

THIS.
Completely agreed. "Humans are cruel. No different from an ant. No, even worse".-

One of my favorite things about HxH is how it definitely shows you cant just classify people as good or bad. Humans are far too complex just to be sorted into either category. I mean Gon's actions were pretty much typical of a villian during his confrontation with Pitou, but does that make him an evil person?? I don't think so. I think a lot of people are too quick to hate on Gon just because he said a nasty thing to Killua, who's partially at fault for not being honest with Gon from the get go.

and Pitou, who knew nothing about humanity when they were born, learned it from the one they admired the most (Meruem). Does this make Pitou evil? Yes, Pitou did unforgivable things, but they were born in a position where they didnt know any better. It's really hard for me to just flat out say Pitou is evil, despite the things they have done.

Same for the King. I like the concept of this arc. What happens when the insects that we're used to kill with our feet becomes stronger than us? How do we survive? The answer of Togashi is brilliant and that's human nature: The cruelest way possible.

Alluka is finally here!!

Image

For anyone who may be wondering, Alluka is a girl. The zoldycks refer to her as a "he" or "it" because they do not care about her well being and only see her as a dangerous thing. She is most likely AMAB (assigned male at birth, not "biologically male"), making her transgender. She always uses female pronouns and Killua never calls her a boy once. Calling her male despite this is transphobic.

She may be a fictional character but little things like this feed into real life oppression, so its really important. And please do not call her a "trap" - that's even worse.

Were you able to find any evidence that Alluka is a girl? From what I've seen (way back when this arc first came out in the manga) Alluka was considered a boy. They state earlier in the series that the Zoldycks have five sons. And every character except Killua refers to Alluka as a boy. I think the reason Killua calls Alluka a "she" is because his personality is more like a girl and Kullua always considered him a little sister rather than a brother. There was also a Hunter x Hunter databook that came out and described all the characters which also said Alluka was male. granted it did come out in 2004 which is before the current arc existed.

Alluka does dress as a girl but so does Kalluto (the brother who joined the Spiders) so it wouldn't be all the strange for both to be somewhat the same in that respect.

Alluka refers to herself as female and that's all it really boils down to in the end. She and Nanika both refer to themselves as "good girls" frequently in the manga. It's also precisely because Killua is the only one who actually cares for Alluka that it's important to note how he refers to her as his sister -- the rest of their family regularly refers to Alluka as an "it", let alone a gendered person.

That aside, I'm really happy with how Madhouse has adapted these chapters. After Neferpitou's appearance, this was what I was looking forward to the most in the 2011 anime and they haven't let me down so far.
