I think I'm the only person who thinks you don't NEED cussing to be funny...I don't see it as such a big deal.

Nope, you don't really need 'em at all, but it's a different style of comedy as well. For example, I would never use Katt Williams or comedians like him, because he uses swears like punctuation without purpose or intellect and I consider him to be a low-end comedian because of it. Most of the things I found amusing this year for my clips just ended up having swears in it. Like JoJo's bizarre adventure one and Genshiken one just happened to have bleeps in the audio source, but that wasn't at all the focus of the joke like it was for Sony POS or the One Piece one (Although Genshiken was definitely helped by it I think). Nagato was funny because of how it was said and the fact that it was Nagato saying it to Haruhi which is why I asked Captpan6 for the clip. And One Piece... tell me you can't see Luffy doing that ^^

It's perfectly possible to be funny without swears, but I also came to the realization that it's also possible to be tasteful with swears. The Onion clip is, in my opinion, very tasteful in how it was done because it very clearly lampoons peoples' anger in a very intelligently ironic way. They intentionally use way too many swears to the point you get annoyed at it almost. Like with Katt Williams, just swearing doesn't do anything and eventually you're kind of like 'shut up already,' but the Onion clip, as Deuce said, anyone who has ever worked with electronics knows pretty much exactly what they were doing, and they did it well

The point is whether people enjoy them. When people take responsibility for the use of swearing, I think that's the key. I was very careful with my choices, even if Sony POS ended up raising some flags, but that was because I always thought fanparodies was 18 plus. At 10 PM, it basically is regardless what anyone says :D If I had it all to do over again, I'd still be happy to spend that Sunday censoring it, because in the end, I think it at least started us off with a good air of humor.

I feel like there are two ways to approach this project (if you're going for hilarious juxtaposition) - taking kiddie footage and juxtaposing it against "adult" (but obviously PG-13) audio... or taking "adult" footage and juxtaposing it against kiddie audio. The latter would be a great way to avoid censoring, and this often ends up being the MOST unsettling/hilarious type of video out there.

Case in point: <--That is definitely the kind of WTF factor I'll be going for in most of my clips, I believe. Taking the horrid and making it adorable, ignoring whether or not doing so is remotely possible. I'll absolutely be looking into some morbid series.

This message has been brought to you by the letter L.

...edit: Can we include really really stupid Kidz Bop lyrics? (If any of us can stand to listen to enough to actually get through the editing process)

You are an evil... evil person...

I guess what you're describing is the same stuff that made my brain eject the "I AM THE OTHER WHITE MEAT!" clip. Heh, still love the 2 second reaction delay that one had :D

Oh man, I feel like the explanation to that involves a spoiler... FFS I need to finish that series. (Seriously though, delayed reactions are WIN.)

I really want to use this with DN: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8P1oGF2nnA I think I almost died of secondhand embarrassment watching this... I just went looking for songs about chips hoping to find some cute kiddie song to put to DN and... wow. I don't even know. I just don't.

Steph: My initial idea was to take the kiddie audio and use anime to go with it but now that you mention it...why not do it both ways? We can separate the two variations into groups but leave it up to the viewer to recognize when the dynamic has shifted. Something about the idea of Hello Kitty doing a Taxi Driver scene sounds deliciously deviant...or putting Chowder in an overtly dramatic anime scene...yesssss, I see some wickedly horrible things coming down the pike. I say we do it.

EDIT: ...and OMG MY EARS!!! That was one of the most disturbing videos ever and I doubt I'll get that out of my head anytime soon. You better do justice to this one.

Oh, I'll absolutely do that audio justice.

That could be a FUN idea, separating them. Definitely something to see how it plays out in the betas.

Is this too much?

That could work for a running gag potentially... just cut in after whatever clip before it... couple seconds of silence.

"... Our anus.... is a useful thing indeed..."

for each section of the song for a little bit. Somehow I saw the King from Ouran explaining it to everyone, but I know that's not that good ^^

....Maybe not the King, but Renge. There's that scene where she's at the shopping center doing some stupid Power Rangers ripoff skit for a bunch of kids.

Oh God. I love making Renge completely perverted. It's not like I have to do much. She is a winner.

Or I could Beck it up a bit? Koyuki singing cheerfully about our special parts to the crowd of people at the Dying Breed concert. Oh god I hurt my sanity there...
