Or like i said earlier, melee, you can just do it and put a solid color under it, then they can chroma key it, either way is fine with me.

What I would like to use for the transition:

Well I would like to see a handy RGBA file in my hand. Ok what acutally is RGBA?
-> The usual RGB colourspace + Alpha for transparency. That means that if you don´t place a colour under the clip we get some Alpha. So in the end, if you render out an RGBA lossless, we don´t even need to chroma key a colour out, because we already have our transparency.
This RGBA stuff is a good function and is essential if you work with stuff like Particle Illusions.
